I thought about starting a thread where we compare the sales in Japan for Skyward Sword to those of Twilight Princess.

In its first week, Twilight Princess cleared approximately 135k, then dropped to about 35k for a second week total of 183,000.

In its first week, Skyward Sword cleared 195k (a clearly higher number), dropped to similar numbers in its second week, and look at where its total is thus far:  227,000.

While a lot of people are disappointed with the second week sales in Japan, I personally think it's important to remember that the series is not as huge in Japan as it is around the world, and it's also important to remember how Twilight Princess fared in its first weeks compared to Skyward Sword.  I will not make any comparisons to the other titles, but of the two, Skyward Sword, despite the nasty drop in its second week sales, is still ahead of Twilight Princess's second week LTD, and with any luck it should continue to sell over the weeks.  If it follows the sales pattern of Twilight Princess, which sold about 395k by the end of the holiday year, Skyward Sword should still be on track to at least cross the 400k mark.  So it still COULD outsell Twilight Princess, even if it doesn't top the handheld sales.

Problem is, it will have worse legs, and it is doing worse in EU, and just a small increase in America.

According to the preview, the third week sales for Skyward Sword are indeed weaker, less than 16k, although the preview also suggests stock shortages being one of the causes.  Whatever the case, at least, as of now, Skyward Sword's total is currently at 242k LTD.  Twilight Princess was only at about 200k in its third week, even if its 3rd week numbers were higher by about 10k.

Did you add up the GC and Wii versions of TP?

Anyway, a few months ago I started a thread to ask whether needing the use of WM+ could affect sales and I think it has somewhat.

Really?  Which area?  The United Kingdom (because that is where it clearly didn't do well at all) or Japan?  If so, I hope so; the more people are aware of it, the more people will buy it.

Troll:  Actually, I was using the Wii comparison for TP; GC's numbers in Japan are non-existant.

The Source says that it may well be sold out in Japan. Hopefully soon Nintendo gets some more stock to Japan and the steep decline will stop.

Zelda always had long terms sales, we can see even Zelda OoT 3DS still selling well.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii went on to sell 285,274 in 4 weeks. That is excluding the Gamecube numbers which we know are at 70k in the FY3 2007.

Yeah, and I see the same thing happening for Skyward Sword as well.
