Forums - General - Is something happening with Apple? Sign of things to come?

Depends on what Apple's goal is. I don't think Apple's ever really had market share as their main goal, but profitability and high quality.

I wouldn't sweat too much. As long as Apple continues to innovate and make user friendly products then I think they'll continue what they've been doing for so long. Apple TV seems like a really tricky and competitive area (I mean, Google and even Sony is looking at it), but hopefully they can pull it off.

To me, Apple has constantly been taking things that we not user friendly/efficient (computers, music players, phones) and making them user friendly. It's not about design or marketing, it's that IMO, taking technology and transforming them into tangible benefits for consumers.

I dont know much about apple, but i think they'll be allright. Even though Steve Jobs looks like he was a genious, i can't imagine that he really was the only one able to come up with Idea's that pushed the company forward. - So yeah, there will be other's who will keep innovate.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

People found out that an apple store doesn't sell apples.

Just one thing. Apple lost in Germany against Motorola because they didn't show up to court. Apple of Germany is still duking it out over there though. That's hardly a loss

Why would they not show up though? Still Germany is pretty fair I think, so things should be settled soon.

Because the only penalty for not showing up was being barred from selling Apple products in Germany. Since Apple of Germany sells all the products it didn't matter if Apple lost. It would have just been wasted lawyer costs

In my opinion, nothing new is happening with Apple but without Steve Job's "Reality Distortion Field" in place people are (slowly) starting to see the truth about Apple ...

Apple's greatest strength has always been marketing and (somehow) they have been able to convince a large portion of the population that there incremental updates involving features that are (often) readily available in other systems are ground-breaking and innovative game changers. This has always been their approach but they have also always struggled to achieve this without Steve Jobs.

My expectation is that, in 10 years time, people will be looking back and claiming that Apple returned to being a niche brand because the death of Steve Jobs made them a far less innovative company; and, personally, I believe that this is really caused by Apple's marketing being unsuccessful in the absence of Steve Jobs.

Apple dominates certain areas.

For example the Ipod Touch is insanely popular with the under 18 crowd.

No other similar product is as popular, over 60 million sold.

Apple is fine... It is the people who are looking into small things that don't understand their true market dominance. Apple sales on smart phones is less than half that of Android based phones, so nothing new there. Last quarter, Apple sold 20 million ipad2(if I remember right) and samsung sold 1.2 million - not much of a problem. Apple's real competition just hit the market this last month, the Amazon Kindle Fire at $200. Like always, Apple is releasing the Ipad3 to keep a tablet at the $500 price point. They will likely drop the ipad 2 to $300 or so. Bottom line, they are NOT in trouble, they are ahead of the game!

They're trying to take over the world, duhh.
