Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Judging from the New Hampshire Democratic Debate, Bill Richardson seems to be the only democratic candidate with a somewhat sane view on international relations.

Edit: Damn, where do those guys get their facts from? 50% chance that a US city will get hit by a nuke during the next ten years , is it from Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld or some one else severly detached from reality?

At least 62 million Wii sold by the end of 09 or my mario avatar will get sad

The swedish system would only work for swedes.

I doubt it would work for other cultures.

i don't even know who ron paul is. what is this almost cult-like admiration of this guy? i'd be mindful if he gets nominated!

the Wii is an epidemic.

What do you mean? I see in your profile that you live in Sweden so you might actually have a clue, so please elaborate.

Actually, of all the White House hopefuls, Bill Richardson IS the most experienced. However, he is so far behind, he should just end it and return to the New Mexico desert. The Dems have the best shot at the White House this time because the vast majority of the U.S. is fed up with Bush and the GOP. Even commentators have admitted the GOP doesn't have an Obama of sorts.

Edwards is also a great alternative, and I do like Ron Paul, even if other GOPers are bashing him. He is the first Republican that I would consider voting for. However, Obama has the wind in his sails and as long as he can convince folks he can do a great job as president, and not focus on him being a minority, he has a good chance of landing in the Oval Office.

Well, I may not be the best one to explain this, and I hope I don't offend any Swedes, but this is the way I understand things here in Sweden.T

hink of a time when the Swedes were poor. I mean really poor. Famine existed and each year about 1 percent of the Swedish population was migrating to the US. Chicago had more Swedes than the 2nd largest city in Sweden at the time! Then along came the socialists. They were able to improve things dramatically and did a very good job at it. Industrialized Sweden and brought it to the modern era. That, and the fact that Sweden did not enter any war since 1814 help the country to prosper. If you keep that in mind, now comes the part were I said the Swedish system would only work for the Swedish culture.

Given this mindset, the Swedes are very happy and satisfied with their way of life. They believe it to be superior. I find that the Swedes are not that ambitious, compared to other cultures, and they believe to enjoy life as it is. Compared to the US where people work all the time, here work is not equal to life. It is hardly an important part of it at all. This is nowhere like the american culture as I understand it. Therefore the Swedes are very resilient to change, and since they believe in their government, don't have a problem with say paying 50% taxes or higher. If for example you told you average American that his employer was paying 40,000 $  for him but he could only get 10,000 $ of those, well I guess he would go nuts. Not here in Sweden. People tend to accept that easily.

Therefore, this system could only work here, and nowhere else.

I'm all for Clinton and I still expect that the Obama euphoria will cool down and the Democrats will look at the facts again, but the one good thing about President Obama would be his more liberal views on digital issues. He promises to protect net neutrality, strengthen privacy and reform the DCMA. I don't know if I would trust him on international matters though.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

What I find strange is how this whole nomination process depends on mass media. I mean Iowa and New Hampshire have no real power, they represent just 2 % of the US population, together. In a Democracy their voice should not matter this much. Only because mass media say that it matters it matters.

Objectively, Super Tuesday should be the important day, when states representing almost 50 % of the US population vote for their candidates. Yet mass media could pronounce Clinton's campaign dead tomorrow if she doesn't win New Hampshire.
