Forums - Sony - Confirmed Ico Creator Fumito Ueda Leaves Sony

CVG

The Last Guardian executive producer Yoshifusa Hayama has resigned.

Vice president at Sony Computer Entertainment for four years, Hayama recently left the platform holder to join a growing London-based social game developer called Bossa, Develop reports.

The news follows claims last week that Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian creator Fumito Ueda has also left Sony.

The firm has reportedly issued a company-wide gagging order on publicly discussing Ueda's employment situation.

The 41-year-old designer is believed to be working on completing the much-delayed PS3 exclusive The Last Guardian in a freelance capacity before he moves on to personal projects.

Ueda took to Twitter earlier this week to reassure fans he's still beavering away on the highly anticipated game.

"Don't worry, as usual, I'm still working hard on The Last Guardian," he said, without directly addressing the rumours of his departure from Sony.

I wonder will his other projects be gaming related? It is still a sad day either way, at least we will get the last guardian!

Is Sony firing all these guys, or are they leaving themselves is the real question... potentially troublesome news for Sony, potentially... (doesn't have to be)

Glad to hear The Last Guardian is still being tinkered away on by Ueda.

He's already addressed this and said it won't affect Last Guardian.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

For him to say that he's still working hard on Last Guardian, he must have surely heard about the rumours. If he had heard about them and he was not leaving Sony, then he would have no reason not to say "I am not leaving Sony".

This seems kinda legit to me, which saddens me. Don't go Team Ico, you are my favourite developers of Sony!

Spot on.

He obviously heard about the story of his departure, yet he didn't debunk it.

Maybe he wants to start his own company.  But just because he left, that doesn't mean the end for TEAM ICO, and Sony's great at spotting and acquiring talent.

As long as THE LAST GUARDIAN gets done, I'm good.   :)

According to eurogamer.net he joined a facebook game developer.
