Great stuff, and I can't get enough of my 3DS now :)

Yes, it has taken off, but Nintendo and third parties need to follow up with good software if they have any business sense left.
3DS got too strong all of a sudden, and instead of a failure is a huge success assumed we still have MH3G, Animal Crossing, Tekken, RE, Kingdom Hearts, Super Smash Bros. and Pokemon is going to be announced sooner or later...
imagine if we have GTA as well as Call of Duty what can happen : P
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Apparently its the highest selling week since launch.
My 3ds friendcode: 5413-0232-9676 (G-cyber)

Got my zelda 3DS on black friday, with OoT, great to see it's picking up from the less then stellar first few months.

^_^
Just some more numbers:
02.2011 4th Week: 371,326 Units (3DS Launch)
12.2011 1st Week: 216,350 Units (Mario Kart 7 Release)
08.2011 3rd Week: 214,821 Units (3DS Hardware Price Drop)
03.2011 1st Week: 206,087 Units (Week Following 3DS Launch)
11.2011 1st Week: 128,287 Units (Super Mario 3D Land Release)
08.2011 4th Week: 107,462 Units (Week Following Hardware Price Drop)
As many have said before me, second highest week since launch, and most probably going to be beaten later on this week and will have a shot at 500k for Christmas week. It's already headed with a rampant start!
Mario Kart (Super Famicom, 11/1990): Total 3.82 million units
Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64, 12/1996): First Week 160,363 / Total 1,711,661
Mario Kart Advance (Game Boy Advance, 07/2001): First Week 261,797 / Total 938,175
Mario Kart Double Dash (Gamecube / 11/2003): First Week 179,230 / Total 825,894
Mario Kart DS (Nintendo DS / 12/2005): First Week 224,411 / Total 3,837,894
Mario Kart Wii (Wii, 04/2008): First Week 608,147 / Total 3,279,183
Mario Kart 7 (3DS, 12/2011): First Week 451,932
As for MK7, well that's the second highest debut for a MK series. It should reach 1.5 million by the end of December if not more.
SM3D Land also seems like it's holding well right before the holiday rises which bodes well..
As for MH3G prediction week, I'd say around 300k, maybe a shot at 350? Not sure really and it all depends on the MH boost which should be around 50-60k, as well as the holiday boost vs week after MK7 drop. But since momentum is on the 3DS's side, I'd go for 250-300k next week!

Wii MK was huge! Didn’t know that before
As for MH-try G wasn’t there a pre-order number posted before? Can’t remember were it was or the actual pre-order number but I’m sure it was above 300k

Some persective- the DS during its heights (Holiday's 07 and 08) was selling over 1 million per week starting in mid Nov, and went over 2 million in a single 2-3 times.
Then again we may never quite see something like the DS again (the pure casuals are content with their Ipads/Phones/Touches and will not buy a DS just from Brain Age, etc this time around, I think the 3DS will resemble GBA in library...more core centric, good remakes, the GBA had NES and SNES remakes the 3DS will be loaded with 5th and maybe 6th gen remakes), and it will do a bit better in sales mainly because it is coming off the heals of the DS.
I think the 3DS will have a better library than the DS, but will end up with around 100 million in sales. Maybe more of there is like 5 version like what happened with the DS (I owned a DS phat, DS Lite, and DSi XL)
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
