In the end the DS will still be on top.

VGChartz USA sales look perfectly in line. Good tracking!

I wonder where the 3DS would be now, if it didn't get the pricecut.

in my opinion Ninty should not have made a price drop for the 3ds. 3ds still would have sold more then DS in its first yr. without the price drop.

I don't understand how a you can say DS will automatically wipe the floor with 3DS in the long run. Especially considering your NFL predictions.

Fact is, none of you can say whether it will dominate, be killed, or equal DS lifetime at this point. Its just now gotten down to a sustainable price point and just now received some real system selling software.

You really can't make a justifiable prediction until at least midway through next year. By then it will of had a few more good games and be selling solely based on content vs its competition.

Considering the competition is once again quite a bit more expensive and the 3DS looks to gain a lot of the same content that pushed the Wii and DS; I certainly wouldn't call its doom as compared to DS just yet.

Hell, it hasn't even gotten a hardware revision or games that cater the elderly.

Beating the DS's first year wasn't the goal though. Nintendo laid out a roadmap in front of third parties, claiming which milestones would be reached at which time. Without the price drop, the 3DS would have fallen far short of these goals, so Nintendo had no other choice, unless they wanted to lose a lot of third party support.

Beating the DS would have been accomplished by selling ten million 3DSes worldwide in one year. Nintendo was always aiming for close to 20 million though.

Nintendo is insane and at $249.99 i seriously doubt 20m would have even been possible. like i've said before Ninty jumped the gun and should not have released the 3ds, but again that's just my opinion. Another stupid company making stupid decisions. it's just a matter of time before Nintendo and Sony get bought out but that's also my opinion.

agreed but the delusional few will. 3ds is god to some like PS3 is to others. i liken them to dogs in a kennel and eventually the lucky few will be taken out back fed their last meal and be shot. the only problem with that is more will come eventually.
