Forums - Nintendo - Possible Smash Bros Brawl Demo coming?

Sure, most Wii owners here (note-- not all Soriku and Rol) know about the game and are going to get it but that doesn't mean all Wii owners know about the game.  That awesome little blue light does wonders and would be a great way to get word out about an awesome game.

I've got a Wii, but never played of Brawl, never even heard of it before I came to this site.

A demo would really help my decision on whether to buy it or not, as I really have no idea what to expect

Yeah, my Wii would choke on a download file that big, anyway. :P

Because the Wii has a 512mb hard drive.

Why don't Nintendo put up downloadable demo games?

where would you even store the Demo?

keep in mind that the wii is limited to 512MB of internal flash memory and demo's in general are much larger than 512MB, well if it's a decen't demo that is.

If there is one and it isn't out in PAL on the same day, I will cry.

nintendo is doing a demo with direct streaming.
soon we will see them have teamed up with:

Direct streaming wtf? It has to at least be temporarily downloaded, like a Youtube video. Speaking of which, if this demo took up nearly the whole space of the Wii, you wouldn't be able to surf the web on the Wii reasonably...all the space for pictures and flash vids would be taken up.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Is there no way they could ensure each demo was under 500MB? Even if you had to delete a demo get a new one that would be better than nothing :/

If this is true and the Smash Bro. demo is available to download how will they make that work? And why couldn't the principle be extended to other games?

Even if they could make every demo 500MB or less, almost every Wii will have less than 500MB available due to VC games and various channels. I wouldn't want have to erase all that data just for a demo, and having to move it all over to an SD card would be tedious.

What Nintendo really needs to implement to make downloadable content more flexible is the capability to run software off either an SD card or a USB hard drive. I'm sure they have one or the other in the works, and many people are wondering what the holdup is.

It'd be neat, but I doubt it.

They'd probably have to limit it to two characters and one level with very little window dressing involved.

Still, if they were going to start releasing Wii game demos, this would be the ideal game.

Oh, and that screen is fake.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks
