Forums - Nintendo - Twilight Princess Appreciation Thread

With all the hype surrounding Skyward Sword, I wanted to show a spotlight on the last 3D Zelda we got:  Twilight Princess.  There are people who love the game immensely, and then there are those who abhor it, declaring it an inferior imitation of Ocarina of Time.  Personally, though, I really don't care what anyone thinks.  I personally enjoyed every minute of Twilight Princess—the graphics, the soundtrack (subtle and melancholy though it may be, it works well despite the MIDI issue), the gameplay... I really had a blast playing it.  But does that mean I think it's better than Ocarina of Time?  That's a question I'd really rather not answer, because IMO both are great games in their own right.

Seriously though, I've enjoyed all the Zelda games pretty much unreservedly, and this is no exception.

I ADORED TP, the best Zelda ever, and one of my favorite games of all time.
It was just too perfect, and all the elements were incredibly balanced.

It was a very great game even though it took me a while to get hooked.

I really got to appreciate all the small details the game had to offer.

I haven't played SS yet but I'm pretty excited for it.

I made this thread because there seem to be quite a lot of people on GameFAQs and some other ZELDA sites who seem determined to write TP off as the worst ZELDA, which frankly astounds me, as I found nothing wrong with it.

I was especially baffled with the complaints of the music. Yes, it does sound somewhat MIDI-ish in places and some tunes sound more subdued than others, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's actually one of my favorite OSTs in the franchise—OoT and ALTTP both tie, although MM and WW had their strong points, too. Granted, I do think Skyward Sword's score is amazing, but I am in no way adverse to TP's score; it was fine to me. Why it never got a CD release other than that crappy 8-track release is beyond me.

I don't want to mention names or make examples of anyone, but I have to say this to anyone worrying about detractors:  haters will hate on something just because they can, whether they have a good argument or not.

I also don't understand the grief this game gets. I thought it was really fun.

I'm not Boutros.

It was one of the better Zeldas. It is the 2nd best 3-D zelda. Behind skyward sword. But 3rd after ALTTP of course. and I still have to beat the original so I'll wait on that one.
