Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo finally got it right!

They got it right with SM 3D Land, too. The 3D game that 2D Mario fans will love, too!

SS for me gives me that feeling when i first played ALTTP 16 years ago.

Yesterday I cried to this:

Edit: Shit, I'm doing it again.

It looks like they shifted more to an RPG style. The game REALLY reminds me of Zelda meets Skies of Arcadia; but that itself is too simple of an explanation, because it grows apart from that foundation.

A few pages from Assassin's Creed as well.

Super Mario Land 3D reminds me of a cross between Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Brothers, and it works out beautifully. While it doesn't have all of the advantages of the Galaxy series, it does have all of the advantages of the NSMB series, and none of the downfalls.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

don't tell me that, i still have to wait 3 weeks to play it : (

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

From what I played it is amazing. Everyone seems to agree it is a master piece the question is will its sales follow or will WiiU kill it off early ,next year?

I'm glad to see you enjoying it Padib, I hope this shuts up all those saying Nintendo is losing their touch. Nintendo is still hands down the best first party game developer on earth. Not saying MS and Sony aren't good but Nintendo has proven time and time again that they can create true master pieces which nothing from any other publisher first or third party could possibly release.

Lets hope Nintendo has some killer 5 year WiiU games ready for launch. Even one or two would just be mind blowing.

But I love this series, and the gold wii motion. I can buy the pirate game for only $1, but I refuse it.

Are you sipping wine when playing games? Because it sure sounds like it.

Regarding your conclusion, I feel the opposite. Continuing on Skyward Sword's path ultimately means that Nintendo dooms itself. If it takes five years to make something like this, it only highlights the incompetence inside Nintendo.

But maybe this thread is just a parody on yourself, padib. If that is the case, you did a good job.

Man Rol you just don't agree with anyone do you.

You seem to understand Nintendo's approach always offering new experiences always creating a high quality title. Yet you have suggested many times that Nintendo should abandon this, Miyamoto should be churning out Mario games and 2D Mario games exactly like New Super Mario Bros. But then you say other times that Nintendo is doomed if they churn out the same titles, its not Nintendo to do so and Nintendo is successful largely because they don't.

LoZ:SS is a master piece Nintendo once again took a familiar world and franchise and made it new and unique again. A game that feels completely new and gives Zelda gamers what they expect while giving everyone else something new and unique.

Also Nintendo titles may take 5 years some times but those studios are usually working on multiple projects. When Nintendo starts a game it can start with 25-50 employees working on it the first year or two, then the actual muscle gets put behind it. The games are also not released until they are perfect its rare to find a glitch or flaw in one of these 5 year long games. Fact is real development with actual resources larger then a small team probably didn't occur five years ago three years ago possibly. But I know the entire team was not working on the game the whole five years.

Nintendo also doesn't devote five years to every game they make. They do so with their master peices the games they count on, rather then a short two year life cycle and an annual release ala CoD. Nintendo actually spends the time to create a high quality project, also looking at how Microsoft is handling Halo4 with a 4 year dev cycle and Halo5 already in early development. I would say the five year dev cycle is probably a very good use of Nintendo's resources.

This way you don't end up with Skyrim or BattleField or CoD or FallOuts problems. No major glitches or problems with the product. Nintendo doesn't release the game till it is perfect. Miyamoto and Nintendo's heads make sure that any 5-year game isn't rushed that it is cooked to perfection.

Its a very efficient and good model.
