Bullies Forced an Alleged Sandusky Victim to Leave His High School

One of Jerry Sandusky's alleged molestation victims, now 17 years old, has left his high school after bullies blamed him for the firing of Penn State's football coach Joe Paterno. Profiles of the so-called "Victim 1"  identify him as the first to come forward and accuse Jerry Sandusky of molesting him. He's credited with initiating an investigation that led Sandusky to be charged with 40 counts of abuse. Since then, revelations that higher ups at Penn State knew about allegations of sexual abuse have led to the removal of the school's president and their legendary football coach, Paterno. Now, Pennsylvania's Patriot-News reports that, faced with name-calling and verbal threats from classmates, he has left Central Mountain High School in the middle of his senior year. The paper writes:

Officials at Central Mountain High School in Clinton County weren’t providing guidance for fellow students, who were reacting badly about Joe Paterno’s firing and blaming the 17-year-old, said Mike Gillum, the psychologist helping his family

The school district told the Patriot-News that it would be "inappropriate" to comment. Like the images of Penn State students rioting after Paterno's removal, this news really has us wondering about the priorities of some Penn State football fans.

These kids are deserving food product.

It looks like at least one school exists where a school shooting wouldn't be wrong...

While this bullying is completely wrong, I wonder how much he was bullied prior to making the allegations against Sandusky ...

Obviously, being bullied before doesn't make this acceptable but it might demonstrate that the actual cause of the bullying is not that he made allegations or that Paterno was fired; but that he was an unpopular kid who would have been bullied regardless.

While things may have changed, I remember what it was like to be a teenager (many years ago) and bullying had little/nothing to do with what kids did and almost everything to do with their social status; and many low social status kids would be bullied for things their high social status peers would be celebrated for.

The blame the victim culture is alive and well, i see

"I was raped"

"Fuck you"

THIS IS WHY MALE RAPE IS UNREPORTED!!!

This happens because it is our society that looks at child sex and rape as bad. Human nature says it is the natural course. These kids will learn with time, whether right or wrong rules are in place and they are to be respected and followed. If they have a problem with them there are different, and more civil ways to pursue there displeasure with toward them.

Although it could stem from a disturbing issue that arises from rape/molestation. I have known a couple of people that were involved in those acts and from what i have seen the sympathetic people often do more damage than the original offender. With this story all over the news, I would not be surprised if the staff did the obvious dumb ass thing and made a big deal of the situation. If they shoved it in the kids faces then they will run with it.

I know for me, it is tiring to keep hearing and seeing family let a member keep sliding because, she was raped 15 years ago. Since it is obviously fine to rape the family for the remainder of her life because of her one run in. Or the kid that was friends with my sister growing up that also gets a free pass, because of his unfortunate situation.

They call rape victims, victims for life, but I think the real problem is people never letting them move past it. To many are willing to say, oh, you poor thing, here's a credit card, go enjoy life, you deserve whatever you want now, the family or your friends got you covered. When they should say, be strong, you did not deserve this, but we will do all we can to stop this MF'er. Don't let this knock you down. Then leave it unless it actually needs intervention.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
