Really?

So then when are Sony going to announce it?

GAMESCOM?  That's in 2  weeks.

No?

Oh...so then you must think TGS 2012 in 6 weeks then.

If not, then it's over, superchunk, and you would be wrong........again

Of course, on this subject,  I'd reckon you might be used to being wrong.

One can reasonably posit that someone is wrong without the supersilicious attitude.

With the whole console launch thing- The 3DS was revealed in March, and launched less than a year later. So long as it's announced this year, or at the latest GDC next year, there's a good chance it'll be out come the end of the year.

Remember- the Sega Saturn came out the day after in was revealed.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Ok, the 8 GB Next X rumor is partially true. It's a dev kit, as GoogleYourself noted it probably was, and as such they do tend to have about double the RAM of the actual consumer model. It has been confirmed that it was a true "Durango" dev kit being put up for sale (moron).

But we don't know if the 4 GB consumer model will be available for all gaming functions or if a large portion is being held for Kinect 2 and/or the OS.

As for Wii U, we still don't know exactly how much RAM it has.

It's 6 - 8 GB RAM for the retail console. The dev-kits are said to have 12-16GB RAM.

A couple of guys on GAF say that the final console will have 8GB with a good chunk for OS, multitasking, etc since MS are focused on making a multi-media box for the living room and not just a dedicated gaming machine.

Can you link the gaf thread? I hadn't seen that on there.

TY.

Still think nvida/intel is not even plausible, so having that with the ram leaves less credibility. I'll leave 4GB for now as I think it will be that and maybe a bit higher.

Ok so now things are coming to what more people would consider as expected. PS4 is the biggest change and back to top level. However, this top-tier has some risks as it will be priced high, hot, and have low yields. For now I'll leave both PS4's high and low end rumors. Still, WiiU will not be like Wii and it is still running with the big boys.

GPU: (neXtBox >= PS4 >= Wii U)
I decided to break this up a little bit due to so many rumors per console. I also added more data per GPU for better comparisons.

Wii U's Card (original rumor)
Wii U's (more recent rumor)
AMD HD 4870 AMD HD 6770

Produced:        2008
Memory:    115GB/s 256bit GDDR5
Clock core:       750Mhz
Clock Mem:      900Mhz
GFLOPS:            1200
Pixel Fill Rate:  12GP/s
Texture Fill:      30GT/s
TDP:                   ~150W

Produced:        2011
Memory:   76.8GB/s 128bit GDDR5
Clock core:      850Mhz
Clock Mem:     1.2GHz
GFLOPS:            1360
Pixel Fill Rate:  13.6GP/s
Texture Fill:      34GT/s
TDP:                 18 to 108W

More recently Wii U has been rumored to have an upgraded GPU in order to be able to utilize Unreal Engine 4. The newer card would be a good upgrade to the original and based on rumors below, it should be right in line with the PS4... possibly even a better card.

neXtBox
AMD HD 7000 series
Produced:        2012
Bandwidth:     ~70 to 260 GB/s
Memory:          128 - 256bit GDDR5
Clock core:       800MHz to 1GHz
Clock Mem:     400MHz to 1.4GHz
GFLOPS:            600 to 3870
Pixel Fill Rate:  1.6 to 32GP/s
Texture Fill:      3.2 to 118GT/s
TDP:                 6.4 to 230W

Really not a whole lot here for neXtBox. Still waiting on a proper rumor to place the card. I'd bet it would be a higher end 7000 series.

PS4 card (default with APU)
PS4 card (rumored 2nd card  or similar chip with new APU)
AMD HD 6550 AMD HD 7670
Produced:        2011
Memory:         29.9GB/s 128bit DDR3-1866
Clock core:        600MHZ
Clock Mem:      ??
GFLOPS:            480
Pixel Fill Rate:  4.8GP/s
Texture Fill:      12GT/s
TDP:                  25 to 100W
Produced:        2012
Memory:         64GB/s 128bit GDDR5
Clock core:        800MHZ
Clock Mem:      1000MHz
GFLOPS:            768
Pixel Fill Rate:  6.4GP/s
Texture Fill:      19.2GT/s
TDP:                 12 to 66W

PS4 is still pretty unclear. If its the low-end APU then it very well could be less than some of WiiU's rumors or at par with them. If its the newer APU or a combination of lower APU with 2nd card, then it could be at par with the neXtBox rumors.

Memory: (neXtBox = PS4 > Wii U)

Looks like WiiU is going with 2GB of shared RAM for everything and 512MB or that dedicated to OS. Rumors of the other system are still unclear, but I wouldn't expect more than 4GB. Interesting if they have double the RAM of Wii U. Unfortunately, the type of RAM is still unknown for any system.

I didn't read the thread, but, if the xbox would double as a PC with windows 8, I'd like to have one. First time I'd ever been interested in a console that wasn't sega, nor sony...

Still, I wouldn't get 1st edition of ps4, or xbox because with my luck, I'd have lemons.. I'd give it at least a year. Glad I don't have a vita now, with all the overheating issues... Waiting is good, and it doesn't kill the bank.

While it will surely run win8 (probably the RT  or mobile version), I doubt it will be full PC. More likely just media focused, apps, and cloud stuff. But with a bluetooth keyboard, I don't see why it couldnt' do just about everything else too. However, that's just speculation as nothing is confirmed yet.

OMFG!  Dude..  I need help...  I can't find my interest...  I lost it right after I read your comment!

6-8 GB in the retail SKU?  The BS meter is reading well into the red on this one.
