For the 3 core CPU + other details, the latest rumours

There were some older leaks that said a 3 core CPU as well

http://www.01net.com/editorial/531660/project-cafe-la-wii-2-de-nintendo-aura-une-tablette-pour-manette/

Interesting and its from yesterday. Odd though as rumors up til now all focused on quad-core. However, it does say 2GB RAM in that as well.

I think you're overestimating the WiiU. It just seems more likely that Nintendo will go with a tri-core cpu and a weaker gpu than the 4850. It says the WiiU can
do 720 with 4x AA or 1080 with no AA; which a tri core cpu and a 4770 based gpu can do fine(lets not forget the 32mb eRAM).

However, much like Zarx said, it could be that the Wii U might have a heafty OS and multitasking applications, which is why they are reserving 512mb aside for system/OS. So, the total RAM is anyones guess. Will they go unified pool?

Edit: Also format is important. DDR3 or GDDR5?

Edit 2: Nintendo recently said the price will be a "pleasant surprise". Gives a hint in what to expect.

No APUs are priced at $600+. Even the best APU chips are designed for mainstream and the lower end of the performance sector. The design is also just an update of the existing Bulldozer architecture rather than a complete overhaul.

The article also states 3.2GHz which is very conservative for a current AMD chip. The soon to be released top of the line APU (A10 5800K) is clocked at 3.8GHz. If anything, it almost seems too conservative as they're going for a low clock speed quad core which is only capable of 1 thread per core when the rumours of the WiiU and NeXtBox suggest Power7 CPUs capable of 4 threads per core.

So a brand new chip would not be close or well over $600? Everytime I see a new CPU or GPU they are at or above that. Why would a APU be different?

Even a top of the range AMD CPU (AMD FX 8150) is under $300. Only the top Intel CPUs (i7s) are currently more expensive. Even the best APUs are weaker and cheaper than a top of the range AMD CPU.

Seems like Nvidia is being ditched bad time.

ah yeah you're right. For some reason I thought they went AMD too.

Hey chunky! It's time to update the Xbox720 specs!! http://venturebeat.com/2012/06/16/leaked-microsoft-document-details-299-xbox-720-in-2013-kinect-glasses-onlive-acquisition/

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

How are those specs really any different than what I already have in the OP?

EDIT: ok there were a couple differences. But not many, just some refinements on GPU and an upgraded to eDRAM. Otherwise, I already had everything else picked.

That was an interesting leak and I do think it is/was true in 2010. Who knows if they've upgraded since then, but it is pretty much in line with the power/price I was thinking. However, $299 would be at a loss, but who knows how much and probably not for long.

the leak very likely is real, but guess made by a non-engineer

the spec(8x360,$299 price,$225 cost even with Kinect V2,120w) is too wishful,i mean if MS made a console like that i will day 1,but i don't think they would
