Forums - Microsoft - You wanna know what would make for an awesome Kinect Game?

I'm not kidding, either.

My sister and her daughter came over on Saturday and played a little Kinect.  We downloaded the demo for Sesame Street Once: Upon a Monster and that little kid went fucking insane!  That got me thinking--to most two year olds, Dora the Explorer is even bigger than Elmo.  They LOVE her!!  Have you ever watched the show?  Imagine:

-Dora asks you to say something in Spanish or English throughout the show (ie: When you see an egg, yell "EGG!").  With Kinect, it will really hear you when you yell "egg".  The game can react to the child's voice.

-She always asks where something is (ie: Where is the egg?  Point to it!)  With the sensor, the kid can actually point to the egg.

-At the end, Dora and that monkey always end up dancing to that song, "We did it".  Kids can jump up and dance with Dora.

Toss in the Backpack sections ("What do I need to climb a mountain?" *kid points to a rope*), Swiper the Fox, and all of the other elements of the show and you have a Kinect game that kids will go crazy over.  If one parent or a daycare has this set up, it will spread like a disease.  Put the demo on Xbox Live and have it end abruptly and parents will be on their way to Gamestop right then and there to buy this fucking game.  What do you think?

You think it's genius, that's what!!

Thanks!

Seriously though, the game would have to be of a fairly different format than the TV show because, if I remember correctly, Dora is about 90% watching and 10% interacting. If developers could make the entire episode, or session or whatever, more interactive, then I'm sure it would be a hit with the kiddies.

It's at least a much better idea than the ridiculous Naruto one I heard, where you make the actual hand-signs in combat; someone really didn't think that one through. . .

I think MS has already beat you to the punch. Not with the Dora Explorer thing, but with the interactive TV because they already have a Sesame Street and National Geographic on they way. I remember when I was little the first time I watched Blues Clues I thought they could actually hear me when they asked questions lol. Definitely a great idea for kids and if I was that young again I would be totally psyched.

Nah. Black and White would make a great Kinect game. Your hand is the games hand. (The Hand of God.)

Hopefully Lionhead does a Black and White 3 in the future.

You are so right! I think they should be working on that.

Dora has a friend 'Diego' that my nephew loves, and there is a Wii game where he goes and saves Dinosaurs! It's a great game for a 6ish year old who has a fondness for dinosaurs (only you have to have a big person there to read if I remember right.)

Dora would be a great Kinect game - then Carmen San Diego. If the could make it all voice for the little ones on the Xbox it would be amazing.

Then bring in the Tele Tubies!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
