Forums - Nintendo - Any other Americans considering importing a PAL Wii U?

If Nintendo of America doesn't release the three games that many fans have been wanting that are getting released in Europe, I think I will go ahead and do that.  If NoA doesn't say anything after Zelda is released, then I'm going to think they have no plans, and it will be obvious they want to take the brand in a different direction than their closest fans.

It infuriates me more that NoA thinks its a good idea to not release the games the more I play my legally imported Xenoblade on my modded Wii.  It really is one of the best jRPGs I've played in a long time.

Of course this doesn't apply if the WiiU is region free - but the chances of that is less than 1%.  Of course the other option is to wait for the hack.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

i like your signature lol since i'm a german and i always think people should read the propaganda newspaper and so on of the time years before WWII and the other people in the internet would never call me nazi again haha. then they would understand only a few germans were bastards like every country has some.

so i would buy an ship you a wii u you only have to ship me the money before haha ;) TRUST ME haha

According to this, NoA doesn't make the localization decisions. So if this is true, this is a NoJ issue.

Nope but i'm importing Wii JRPGs.

What is their reasoning for not allowing consoles to be region free? It seems to me that as long as people are buying games it should not be a problem. When I see a copy of xenoblade used at gamestop I will know how big that game was over here as an import!

More HW sales?

Well, the quote was used in context for more recent wars, like the Iraq war.  While the war had nothing to do with terrorism or defending the US, many of the right wing people in this country called anyone unpatriotic if they questioned going into Iraq instead of focusing on Bin Laden in the day.  It's a Nazi comparison that has some hard evidence, I suppose.

"Michael Patcher" - that makes it very questionable.  Even though jRPGs have sold more in the US than Europe, I don't know why NoJ would want to release it in Europe.

I really think Reggie and NoA want to take the Nintendo brand in a different direction and give it a different image - a casual family image while leaving the barebone Nintendo franchises for the hardcore Nintendo fans to feed on.

I don't get it... if you want to play the 3 games released in Europe and not NA, why would you wait for the Wii U to be released and import a PAL version of it? What purpose does that serve since it'd be cheaper to just import a PAL Wii or just mod your existing Wii to play them.

Edit: Oh i see, you want to screw Nintendo of America over... by buying the same console anyway and paying alot more for it to boot (consoles in Europe always cost more, then add to that the taxes and shipping to bring it over here).  That'll show 'em!

If you really want to screw them over, don't buy one at all and wait for a price drop or something.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

It's usually to stop people from importing stuff cheaper than their home country and also to protect the profits and revenue streams of the local distributors.  Some like Sony has realized that it's a failed scheme and people will always find a way around it.  It really just punishes honest consumers and encourages them to pirate instead.

I certainly think there are business reasons for not releasing it in the US.
I still am befuddled about the release of the game in Europe -- where it has sold just over 100k units.

However, if released I would buy.
