I just noticed Munkeh's sig.  It featured Nathan Drake, Marcus Fenix, Altair/Ezio (I couldn't really tell), and the Normandy in the background.  Uncharted, Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect.  The big ones.  Those icons inspired me.

This gen has gotten a lot of flack from a certain segment of the gaming community.  They feel that this gen was actually a bit of a step back from what we got before.  Well, for me, things have never been better.  There are franchises introduced this gen that I just don't want to be without, in the future.  Last gen, we got Devil May Cry, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Halo, Forza, Fable, Killzone, etc.  This gen, we get:

• Gears of War
• Infamous
• Uncharted
• Mass Effect
• Bioshock
• Assassins Creed
• Many more

So, let's spread some love for the current gen.  Which franchise (introduced this gen) has become a permanent part of your gaming diet?  Which franchise do you feel belongs right up there with Zelda, Grand Theft Auto, and Final Fantasy?  Which franchise will we be speaking of, for years to come?

If we're going by franchise (ie more than 1 installment), I'm going to go with Bioshock, Valkyria Chronicles and Prof Layton as my 3 picks.

Please allow me to add Bioshock to the mix. And Dead Space.

Nah.  A game with only one instalment can still have a big future.  I STILL haven't finishe Valkyria Chronicles 1 (MARCUSDJACKSON has been on me for ages about that!) but I think it's of higher quality than any of the games I've listed.  I would love to see it come back again and again.  It's possibly the gem of this gen. 

And it's gotten sequels already, too--just not a full fledged PS3 sequel.

Uncharted (though U3 disappointed me), Dead Space and Mass Effect.

I'm going to go with Mass Effect. Don't know what they'll do with the series once the story has been told, though. As it stands, if I had to choose one franchise from this gen to carry into the future, that would be it. I love that series.

I hope we´ll finally get to see Tali´s face in ME3!

So Uncharted is my favourite, followed by Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect (and honourable mention to Gears and inFamous)

I feel this gen they introduced quite a few new franchises at the start of the gen, and they have kept them going well with the sequels being top quality

eh hard choice between assassins creed and uncharted.

That's a tough one, there's a bunch of great ones! But I think Mass Effect takes the cake.

Speaking of cake, honorable mentions to Portal, Uncharted and inFamous.
