Forums - Sales - Take-Two earns $107m in second fiscal quarter, thanks to L.A. Noire

Joystiq

Take-Two Interactive recently released its financial figures for the second quarter of the 2012 fiscal year, boasting "better-than-expected" net revenue of $107 million. That figure -- driven largely by L.A. Noire and MLB 2K11 sales -- pales in comparison to the company's $245 million in earnings from the same period last year. Of course, that period last year had Civilization 5Mafia 2 and Red Dead Redemption on the docket, so there's that.

Despite the surprise upswing, Take-Two didn't revise its expectations for the entire fiscal year, during which it hopes to earn around $1 billion in revenue. Though they didn't explicitly say so, we're assuming they've revised expectations for whichever quarter Grand Theft Auto V will launch in to "three bajillionty dollars."

Around the Network

Looking at the Take-Two website, Grand Theft Auto V is not mentioned at all in the press release, which is annoying, because I would have thought it was the one thing that investors would want to know!

But I still feel Take 2 are a company dominated by R*, but they are doing a good job of letting R* get on with what they want. If anything, the last few years have been R*'s best, just concentrating on top quality games which do new things and sell loads, they are basically being the perfect gaming company for everyone!

EDIT: actually I found this

GTA V TBA, but XCOM delayed slightly. But with next fiscal year already having Bioshock, and msot of Max Payne's sales (assuming it launches late March) AND Borderlands 2, they might give R* until 2013 to finish GTA V to keep their earnings more even... but let's hope not
