Pretty agreeable in my IMO. Pushing consoles further through more optimized coding would do the industry better. Imagine a industry where the Big Three keep churning out consoles too regularly with game makers being "lazy" with their stuff. I mean if the console cycles come and pass too quickly it's a little unsustainable I think.
Through extended console cycles, game developers are forced to produce games through more optimized means. Would these experiences contribute to the development of future projects? I think so.
But for a more personal viewpoint, I wouldn't want to shell out hundreds of dollars for a new console anytime soon. HELL NO I'M BROKE.

FXAA is a new(er) antialiasing technique for XBOX 360 (both consoles can do it, but it seems to be better suited for 360) that spawned from MLAA (Better suited for PS3). DLAA is another AA technique that spawned from MLAA too.
New programing solutions and better optimisations for consoles are happening every month, enditall727.

can FXAA push Xbox 360 to make a quality game better than something like Uncharted 3? graphics, quality every way around and all??

Your question is almost a "jumping the gun" kind of question.
FXAA....it's just AA.

What point?
That XBOX 360 has to beat the PS3 in order to continue to advance?
Sir....with due respect....if that's your point, your point is ludicrous beyond.
sure they could squeeze out more and more of a console but only a little bit more every year and this little bit is not what i wish to see 100 years in a row. every 5 years or so i think i need a big jump and not 100 lamps swinging in a dark room to make great lightning effects instead of 98 one year before.
everyone knows it's possible to squeeze out more and more that's why i understand if some people can't hear it anymore. if i wouldn't know they will squeeze out more every year hell i would not even buy a new console lol the difference between new and current gen isn't so huge on release.
ok that sounds stupid i say i wish to get a big jump and then that the fisrt games of a new console aren't so much better lol. i mean if they will squeeze out more and more of the 360 the games still wouldn't look better in 2020 as they will look for next gen consoles in 2014.
and because everyone knows it's possible to get more and more out of a product the developers don't have to say it every few weeks. it's like i would say someone that if he will train something like football he will get better an better. maybe he will be worse after ten years than someone else after 1 month but he will still get better and better until his age will kill this process. after a few years it's really only a little bit not like in the first year of the training but still.... i don't have to say that to everyone everytime because we all know that.
