Forums - Nintendo - How much did Nintendo invent originally.

If there is someone who actually knows, it would be nice.

I actually do want to know.  I'm not trying to troll or anything.  We always do get the accusation that Sony copies everything from Nintendo, which may be true or false in different cases.  But, I also see Nintendo using things that PC gaming has used (Analog stick and vibration (I think)).  Wasn't Sega going to introduce motion control with the Dreamcast before it pulled out?

How about the D-Pad.  Did Nintendo invent that? (I seriously don't know).

I like Nintendo and Xenoblade Chronicles is probably tied as my favorite game this generation to Tales of Vesperia.  I do hate Nintendo of America / Reggie that I had to circumvent them to play my favorite game.  I also get annoyed at Nintendo fanboys, but that goes for anyone that blindly supports a company that makes a piece of electronics that sits under the TV to get some money from you.

Not a troll thread, although I expect some hostile responses - but that would be your own insecurity if that's what happens.  I do think claims need to be backed up when people say that Nintendo invents every thing, though.

But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. One of Nintendo's core principles over the years has been to put withered technology to new uses. That naturally isn't invention, but innovation. Video games consist of hardware and software and Nintendo's strength is to introduce new control methods by delivering games along with them that remove all doubts whether the new control method makes sense for video games.

In the history of video games, Nintendo was able to pull this off more often than anybody else and many of their innovations are still present in the consoles of today, including the systems of their competitors. That's the reason why people give Nintendo so much credit.

Yeah, if you really dig deep into it you will find that most "innovative breakthroughs" were invented many years before hand; and envisioned many years before that ...

This is the reason many of the nintendo discussions about his subject always go wrong.

nobody has invented anything except Sony with dual analog and even then i think astronauts used that somehow in someway before the PS2 did it.

there all copying something from someone its just all about who does it better. Sony made motion controls with PS2 but it wasn't release cause it was still in prototype stages and i'm assuming because they couldn't get it right (Rol rumor) they bashed Ninty for having it saying it wouldn't work.

so basically Rol is spot on. Ninty made what many didn't use before them, and the concept of Sony taking Ninty ideas and making them there own is off when it comes to motion controls.

Ninty took Sonys idea and made it better then Sony took there own idea, while at the same-time copying Nintys motion controller design while making it there own and adding more buttons for more functions.

so Ninty adopted controls that existed on PC and everywhere else in the world before they made consoles and Sony improved it.

remember airplanes were made before the N64 and they had and still have to this day one stick.

so Sony and MS as technology companies has invented far more then Ninty ever will. does ninty still make toy's?

Its amazing how Nintendo have all these fantastic ideas for hardware consoles like touch screen, motion sensoring and this Wii U thing yet the games are no different now then they were before.

hmm a button that looks like a + sign must have been very hard to invent so Nintendo probably copied the plus button and called it D-pad.

next came buttons to do things cuz you need buttons to do things as well as move around with the D-pad. before it was a stick and a red button but Nintendo thought this is too sexual. we don't want anyone to stick that thing in the wrong place. So they invented the NES controller with one D-pad and two buttons.

then there was this motion technology that existed and they wanted to make use of it in video games. so they created this power glove and inserted the technology in it and voaila a new innovation or evolution of something used in a different way was born but it failed!

SNES come and they ad two new buttons and a pair of shoulder buttons which are very hard to "invent" lol

then comes the N64 were they add the analogue stick which is basically a joy-stick but Nintendo wanted you to control it with your thumb instead of your hand cus again that would be too sexual. so they shrunk the thing down. they also added the Z button and invented the target system in Zelda. there was an article about how this system came to Miyamoto mind. something to do with samurai's.

not everything Nintendo has in their consoles are inventions of their own just that they are the first to do most of the things out of the big three. there are of course small innovative/inventive companies that never get too show their products to the masses because of low budget. some get bought up and some just die out.

lol this post is way to long now and i got bored so i'm just going to post it as it is. I even forgot where i was going with this :P

time for me to sleep!

PS: Nintendo went the sexual root with the Wii mote! but someone beat/copied them with an even sexualer thing :P
