honestly you are obviously just being a troll. microsoft owns it and you with all these semantics is just plain annoying and stupid. microsoft OWNS ALL RIGHTS TO THESE VIDEO GAMES. who the fuck cares if they dont own the BOARD GAMES RIGHTS, because in case you didnt notice this is about a VIDEO GAME...WHICH THEY OWN THE RIGHTS TO.

No I was just correcting a simple missunderstanding, saying MS owns the Mechwarrior IP is like saying that Activision owns the Spiderman IP, it's just wrong.

MS does own the video game Mechwarrior IP just like Activision owns the video game Spiderman IP and 007 IP. What else would we be talking about?

To say MS is blocking Mechwarrior for PS3 is like saying Sony is blocking Resistance for Xbox 360, it's just plain wrong.

Seriously, if MS wanted to they could toss the Mechwarrior IP in a box and sit on it. They don't have to do anything with it if they don't think it will make money.

Guys guys...MS own the IP for Mechwarrior... HOWEVER they do not own any actual MechWarrior robots. Sony can build their own MechWarriors if they want.

No they own the rights to make games bassed on the IP, how is this hard to undserstand? Why are poeple agueing with this simple fact?

No it's not because Sony publish those games and fund them, the Mechwarrior reboot was externally developed and looking for external funding as MS turned it down, but publishers didn't want to pick the game up for funding as they couldn't make a PS3 SKU because when MS licenced out the rights they didn't let the series appear on competing plaatforms. Unlike Resistance where Sony owns the IP and decide what games get made by who MS never owned those rights (Topps could block a MS Mechwarrior if they wanted to) and they licenced the rights to make games bassed on the IP to someone else who now controls whether or not games bassed on the IP can be made, exept they can't be on a competitors system.

The resault may be the same but funcionally it very different. But that is beside the point as all I was ever doing was pointing out that MS don't actually own the IP just the rights, you know as a freindly FYI.

And as for yor last point they could have 3 years ago but they sold those rights to someone else instead...

And I know it's a board game that's where the IP came from and what the video games are bassed on what's your point? All the mechs, backstory and factions all come from the boardgame, and that is what constitutes an IP not just the name.

And I am fully aware that MS own the Videogame rights (tho they are licensing them out) that's what I have been saying from the start, they still don't own the IP.

MechWarrior is based on the BattleTech universe.  All of the information that is in MechWarrior games comes from BattleTech, the Mechs, Worlds, battles, characters...   Everything.   BattleTech is owned by Topps, which would include all of the Intellecutal Property within.   Microsoft only owns the rights to digitally recreate them for Video Games and such.

yeah so i was told him make a battletech-type PS3 robot to Sony

btw in this three site no one is about "video/computer games"

What are you talking about you are the one who brought trademarks in to try and prove that MS own the IP, I just countered your trademark links that only applied to videogames with links to the trademarks that cover everything else that the IP is used for.

As for why it's not on their website Mechwarrior the rights (including the trademark for Mechwarrior when used for a video game) to videogames bassed on the IP are owned by Microsoft so they only need to expressly mention MS as the product is a videogame. All other trademarks for the mechs, universe etc are covered by the "All other trade-marks are the property of their respective owners; ® or ™ as indicated" part.

And the board game (the souce of the IP) is currently being licenced to InMediaRes Productions subsidiary Catalyst Game Labs, http://www.catalystgamelabs.com/2008/06/27/catalyst-game-labs-bring-classic-battletech-shadowrun-and-mechwarrior-novels-back-to-bookstores/, http://www.catalystgamelabs.com/battletech/

"Classic BattleTech, BattleTech, BattleMech, ‘Mech, and MechWarrior are registered trademarks and/or trademarks of The Topps Company, Inc. in the United States and/or other countries."

Notice that it's not just the MechWarrior name that is owned by Topps.

Also I already pointed out that I was mistaken when I suggested they just call it Battletech it turns out MS own the videogame rights to everything to do with the Battletech IP not just Mechwarrior.

Anything else?
