I didn't say Dark Souls wouldn't get any GOTY awards. I'm sure it will get a few but the majority of sites and GOTY awards will go to UC3, Batman AC, Zelda and maybe AC: Revelations if they can make it really good.

As far as RPG of the year awards I expect it to be roughly like this.

Around 40-60% of RPGOTY awards will go to Skyrim, 15-30% will go to Dark Souls, 10-20% will go to the Witcher 2 (that's mostly because it came out so early in the year so it will suffer because of that) and around 5-10% will be other RPG games.

And then to show the real reason it will also win half of next years RPGOTY awards for the 360 version

damn I forgot about that crap, well I am now of the opnoin it's more of a shooter than an RPG so goes in the shooter catagory so The Witcher 2 wins by default (kingdoms of Amalur looks dodgy)

Well ME2 was more shooter than RPG however ME3 looks like it will be more along the lines of ME for RPG aspects.

let me put it this way, i think you all underestimate the results it will get.
oblivion with some minor issues ( as some mention ) still won lots of awards

skyrim goty? u been in the future bro? if a game like uncharted 3 and gears of war 3 which are better games then their predecessors recieved lower scores then why would skyrim be an exception.

Because most games releasing this holiday are sequels to popular games that offer an simelar experience with an different story/added weapons.  If you played Gears of war (1), Demon Souls, Uncharted for the first time you would get introduced in a different world with different mechanics that you don't have seen before, you have to adept to the new game mechanics, covering in gears of war probably will fail you at the beginning, instead of covering you will jump over the wall and will attract hundreds of bullets, in demon souls you will die die and die,  but that is not going to be the same with Gears of war 3, Uncharted 3 and Dark Souls,  I basically started the game on insane and finished Geow3 in two days on insane with almost no trouble,  in dark souls you probably still die but you will fly trough the game.      

This is not the case with Skyrim, it may be a new Elder Scrolls game but Morrowind and Oblivion fans are going to be noobs again, for what we know the game looks to be a lot different than the last one, the game is not only hyped by the fans but also by the game industry who probably fear and at the same time are excited for this game because it has the potential to change the industry like Half life/Halo Ce did before and that is why it has the most chance to be named GOTY...Zelda in my eyes looks to be the only challenger;..but oh well for the same thing Skyrim mechanics will be an failure...(doubt it).

I don't know about that..

Well if it's pretty much a lock to get a 90+ in Metacritic and it has massive amounts of hype which is rightfully so by the looks of things.


Gamespot will probably name Dark Souls their goty considering they gave Demon's Souls goty.
