Forums - Movies & TV - Top Movies of the 80's elimination thread! Big Trouble in Little China and Die Hard tied for first place! Sudden death?

Do you agree Archbrix? That would be 3 votes. I would have to take the ones I left off the list I just made to Michael-5 and look at them again, but if no one has any objections I will edit. It is not too big of deal, oh and the ones already voted on will stay as well. JEMC, Ruim, and SVennoJ are the other main posters who have been here for the long haul so I would like there votes as well. But Alby is certainly welcome as well!

THX! I can't suggest a better way than what you did to insert the bonus round movies, maybe suspending the main round, having the best 10 (or, even better, 20) from the bonus round voted and then inserting them with 15 or whatever else initial score, but raising the ones in the Top20 of the original elimination that dropped under that score up to it, finally starting the final showdown. But surely eliminating all those Michael didn't hear about wouldn't be the right choice, he didn't hear about a lot of true classics! I'd say, now that you already inserted them, just raise to 15 the original Top20 that fell under it, but not too low, those that are really next to 0 should be left ready to go!

-Return to Oz

I've been looking on and off for Grave of the fireflies for years. It's either 'temporarily' out of stock and never returns, region 2, only ships to the usa or over CDN 60 used. Most frustrating movie to get a hold of.

All the better when I finally do get a hold of it. How does it compare to Barefoot Gen?

Never seen Barefoot Gen, but the premise looks the same. However GotF is probably a lot sader because it focus's on the life of a 5 or 6 year old child who lost his parents and no body has the resources to take care of, nor wants to. He is rejected and homeless with his little sister who is probably 3, and tries to take care of himself. Real heartbreaking.

See Michael-5 and Joker! These bad movies will be of before you know it! That is at 5 I think for Superman 4 now. I think. Will count around midnight.

YOU ADDED 30 MOVIES!!! They won't be gone before we know it.

If anything, suspend the bix office movie votes for a day to help eliminate some of this crap.

Also I know some of the movies I never heard of, people are fond of, but that's a handful. Keep that handful and cut the crap (superman 4).

Keep everything I said before, as well as Princess Bride, Fast Times at Redmond High, Big Problem in Little China, Cinema Paraiso, Akira, and Goonies. No other franchise I said eliminated got a plus vote.

When you have a list of 20 films left, I think most of us assumed bonus would be a fraction of the remainder, like 5 more films, not 150% more then the list. That's not a bonus, that's a new list, and ruins the game.
