Hair dryer trick did not work. Any other suggestions?

Also is there any way to check what you have on the cloud without a ps3?

I'm sorry for your loss.R.I.P .

hope you get back on your feet soon. wheres CGI or darth when you need them.

I use a cooling fan on mine. I think it helps extend its life. its a launch model too.

the cooling fan sucks out hot air from within the PS3..its actually good on winter time >_>

My launch ps3 died about a year ago, and I used these youtube videos to get it back up and running again for a while.  I'm pretty sure that there isn't a way to get the old PS3's to eject the disc (The new slim ones have a way of ejecting if the system fails).  If it truly is dead and gone you might have to open it up and actually open the blu-ray drive.

You said you did the hair dryer trick, is that like the video I posted above?

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

wow and that 1 week before Uncharted 3...i couldnt believe it!

im from Germany i sent it to some "specialists" and they repeired it for 99€ + guaranteed that the YLOD will never happen again + a 2 year warrant...i dont know where you from but i think with good research you can also find a great site that will repair your PS3 so that it will never happen again!

The hair dryer trick is very temporary, as is the method of putting new thermal paste. The only foolproof method of fixing your PS3 is to re-solder the chips again, which I wouldn't want to do personally unless you knew how to do that.

I talked to sony and apparently I can send this model in and they'll send me a 160 GB slim for 99 bucks. Assuming I can find the original hard drive.

My Phat 80 gb MGS4 ps3 was dead too about 2 weeks ago ( 3-4 days before Dark Souls came out). I did a reflow ( Heat gun + Thermal Paste, not a hairdryer)and it is still working as of right now. Although, I don't think it'll be for long but it still gave me time to do a backup. I also just bought a ps3 slim bundle, so right now I'm backing up the old ps3 1 last time and then transferring everything into the new one.

Point being, the reflow did work on my ps3( although I fucked up 2 of the big screws securing the heatsink, and somehow it wasn't a problem...)

P.S It was the YLOD right? A brief yellow light, 3 beeps and constant red light flashing?
