I predict analysts will predict nintendo is doom and going third party!.. 

So as of tomorrow, for the last 6 months, Nintendo may have made a loss of $1.35B in just 6 months? This is on the scale of the PS3 and 360 early years ...

Wii U R&D and 3DS costs to top it off? :s

Earthquake, low sales and exchange rates hitting them badly, esp. when they were forced to lower their prices earlier than they wanted.

Also it's probably worth keeping in mind Nintendo made $2.45 billion in profit last year so this isn't really that bad considering all the factors. Poor economy, 2 new platforms one of which is currently sold at a loss the other won't see revenue until late 2012, lack of big softwarelaunches  for existing plaforms and weak US$/strong Yen) Xmas should be strong tho with 3DS software hitting (3D land and Kart) and Zelda: SS.

I am with zarx on this one. they will get profit in the overall fiscal year due to fhe xmas surge they experience every year. even more with the strong sales of the 3ds software and hardware wise.

You're ignoring all the data they've released and just hopelessly digging your head in the sand!!

Before this Q they only expected to lose $230 odd million this FY, now they've doubled their expected loss for this Q that's now in the losses. How do you go from Nintendo making a much bigger loss this Q than expected, to them making a much higher profit over the next 2? How are they going to make back $1.35B in profit over the next 6 months when they made less than $1B profit for the entrity of last year and are currently losing said amount ($1.35B ...)

I guess I shouldn't trust random news stories as sources lol, stupid games "journalism" always getting their facts wrong... Still the amount of profit they have pocketed over the last few years will cover the losses this year. They will still likely have a healthy surplus for new year as well. I mean it's not like they have gone out and actually spent much of their profits over the years. 

Most companies would have spent their profits on accusitions (MS's ~$8 billion Skype accuasition for example) but Nintendo seem to have just put it all in the bank so to speak. 

Also I should ponit out Q4 being strong doesn't mean I think they will profit from this year just that they will likely make a decent profit in Q4 it's self offseting some of the losses, Xmas has been very kind to Nintendo this generation and they will likely be losing less on each 3DS by then as well, with strong software to bring in revenue.
