Forums - Nintendo - Huge Mario Kart 7 info dump!

Well we have all been wondering how Mario Kart 7 will play online, well Nintendo continues to keep a lot of the game play a close secret however they revealed a lot of new content for Mario Kart 7!

There will be clans in Mario kart 7 you can create groups of friends or enemies or complete strangers. Then within these groups you can specify specific rules for racing including environments. Custom leader boards will keep accurate tabs on all your conquests so that you can brag your superiority to all your friends.

You will have a profile (Details are still sketchy) this will include detailed records or your entire career in Mario Kart 7, Every win and every loss recorded. Numbers of coins add to your masculinity as you can show off your booty hall to the whole world. More records are yet to be announced I could only wonder at the possibilities. Maybe we will be able to see how many times you use weapons, that would be interesting when going up against someone. Imagine seeing how many times they used a weapon on average in battle, useful info.

Here comes the goodies. All your totals can be exchanged with everyone you pass on the street with StreetPass. This information can be viewed without even needing the Mario Kart 7 game running. You just access your Mario Kart 7 channel which will be available day one and you can view the ranks and names of everyone you pass on the street.

Using the new Mario Kart 7 channel and SpotPass will enable you to download the ghost data of those users you wish to battle. You can then take those players ghosts up to 7 at a time and race them on a variety of courses. Unlike playing against NPC's you will be competing against 7 real life competitors and the competition will be fierce. Imagine you meet Reggie and download his ghost data or maybe Miyamoto, you could play for ages trying to beat him. The endless possibilities to exchange info and play the greatest players you come across are limitless!

Mario Kart 7 will also feature a total of 32 courses. They will include 16 all new tracks giving you the new experience we all love and enjoy. But that's not all the game will also feature 16 classic tracks from the games of yesteryear to give us that must have nostalgic boost.

A slew of new screens were also unveiled, some below!

This is interesting instead of the usual three shells circling you in this screen Peach has a variety of weapons present.

It would appear in Mario Kart 7 you get the fire flower and can unleash flaming hell on your unsuspecting adversaries!

A return of classic balloon battle, this confirms it for multi-player yayz!

For more screens visit Eurogamer here, and for my source on multi-player content visit here.

*** Disclaimer I know Iwata recently made these statements, they may have appeared in another thread, though I hadn't read about most of these details prior to posting this. I also didn't see any identical threads with the same topic subject. Please forgive me if someone else beat me to this!

So what do you like about these fresh announcements? Do you think this is awesome or what, what is Nintendo still not telling us about online? Do you think Nintendo will hold back some punch's till release date?

That statement makes no sense. There have been at least 3 Mario Karts superior to MK64 since it came out, I can't judge super circuit personally but I would be suprised if it doesn't make a 4th.

Well that was his opinion :P Personally my favourite is MK Wii, but a lot of people feel that that MK64 had was outstanding for its time so... Anyways my main point was that all these online functions can make this MK one of the best

I think a large reason people have such high views of MK64 is because of nostalgia. Many of us were in our pre-teens or early teens when N64 was out and that means a lot of us have great memories playing it, it has a place in our hearts and was part of our childhood. Nostalgia is a very powerful thing.

So the question is is MarioKart64 really a superior product or are our memories playing tricks on us? Personally I think MKDS is the best MarioKart made with DoubleDash following and then MK64 and MKWii after that. Mainly because my favorite mode is balloon battle and I feel Nintendo dropped the ball with Balloon battle in Wii. I also thought online play was more enjoyable on MKDS. DoubleDash had various modes as well to make up for its short comings and it offered gameplay not found in any future MarioKart games or past ones.

I played MK7 and must say it is amazing. I'm guessing it will probably be my favorite MarioKart game released to date!

The game looks incredible, another reason to save and buy a 3DS -.-
Btw, the pic with Peach and his items it's from the new power up called Lucky 7 (or so i read) which let you choose the power ups or you get a random power up, i don't know.

Yeah I would agree that Nostalgia is a factor. As well as the jump from Super mario kart to SM64 was amazing, the N64 hardware really helped the game develop and take it up a gear... Anyways to each his/her own opinion!
