Forums - Nintendo - Aonuma Felt ‘Intense Pressure’ To Use MotionPlus In Skyward Sword

Are you happy with motion control being the only control type for this game?

Yes 36 70.59%

NO 8 15.69%

undecided 7 13.73%

Nintendo would've fired Aonuma for NOT putting motion plus in. If not them then us consumers will. With pitch forks and torches.

Though I'm pretty sure Nintendo is just saying how they forced Aonuma to put motion plus in the game in a nice way.

They wanted to do it button based?

I am shocked.

I know right lol.  For MArio Kart and Smash doesn't it recommend using the Gamecube controller?  I think it's just easier to guarantee quality, buttons are more predictable.  I'm sure they were hesitant with such a big franchise.

It shouldn't even have been up for debate whether WM+ is included and required, but this shows why everything fell apart for Nintendo in the last couple of years. No clear direction or vision, just toying around with stuff and hoping that it's successful.

wow over dramitizing a situation much?

I don't think he's being overdramatic at all. If Nintendo made up their minds sooner, the game would be out right now and they could've been working on new projects. Things like this is what caused Skyward Sword to take 5 years to develop. There's no excuse for this when a multitude of franchises has  the next installment released  in 2 years.

I understand what you are saying, but isn't this what always happens with Zelda? You would think that a systems swan song would be their most popular franchise (Mario), but Nintendo does Zelda. 64 Oot and Majora, GC we got windwaker and then T.P. Now if they would make the last game Mario then the system would see really well until the Wii U came out! Zelda is big, but not in a casual sort of way if that makes sense at all.

The time gap between A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time was the only one that was bigger. It was six years, but that's understandable because they were going from 2D to 3D. Every other time it was only 1-3 years in between releases. Nintendo taking a step backwards in development time because they couldn't figure out which control scheme they wanted to use is just bad direction. Being the swan song was never an issue.

i'm very happy they went with motion! bring us closer to the games Nintendo!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

This is nothing new, it was mentioned several months ago, Miyamoto was the one pressuring Aonuma for Wii Motion Plus. It would be a massive failure for Nintendo if they didn't use it, in fact one reason the Wii has been losing popularity is the lack of games that use it at all.

@ spurgeonryan : you don't have to stand up to play this game, you only need to shake your hand, it will be similar to Twilight Princess but more precise. The same with Wii Sports Resort.

People go to the store, and they're like "How much for the motion plus?" and it's like idk 15 bucks. Then the reps is like, "But it's only good for like 5 games". The shopper gets and instant buzzkill.

I heard a customer shop for a Wii Fit Plus the other day, and she's like "It's 115 bucks just for that?", and that was the end of it. With no hype, little support the hardware doesn't move to the less passionate.

Exactly, sadly this is what killed the Wii momentum
