lol people are now saying forza 4 has more features then GT5. Forza may have better, sound, grpahics, etc. but GT5 definitely has more content.

Did everyone forget the nascar, go cart racing, track maker, 1000 cars (all have cockpit view now too)

Forza clearly has better graphics (and it is releasing a year later, it's pretty natural for it to have better graphics...). Neither are the best in the genre though, if that video is anything to go by, and GT5 is looking pretty dated graphically.

Clearly what?

  • Ridiculous LOD levels (race vs hot lap, that is 12 cars vs 1 car):

GT5 manages 16 cars without levelling the details so much.

  • Prebaked lighting and reflections on all cars but that of the player (the blue volkswagen does not reflect the bridge, nor the big sign):

GT5 has dynamical reflections on all cars.

  • No dynamic lighting.
  • No weather effects.
  • No night time (that is multiple light sources).

And that's just for the features.

EPIC WIN!!!

Go Karts is a single special event, it's done in minutes, and the go kart itself is one car.

NASCAR is a similar story, but having that little video by Jeff Gordon was cool.

Track maker cancels out with the paint and decal editor in Forza, but I would say not even because you can't really make your own tracks, just generate something.

1,000 cars, but only 200 premium, many would prefer 500 premium. This is a trade off. Also Forza 4 has more tracks then GT5 (almost 50% more).

What about More Top Gear Content including Jeremy Clarkson, Top Gear staff suggested games? Deep Online experience? Auto Vista? More involved damage model? Tire deformation and engine fatigue modeling? Car Clubs? Kinect Play/Kinect Head Tracking/Audio commands? and an in depth 10 year career mode? (GT5 only has 54 cups, Forza 4 has more then Forza 3 which had 220 cups).

pezus - I still like GT5 a lot, I also like Forza 3 a lot. I do prefer Forza 4, but not for it's supperior sound, physics, and gameplay, GT6 will top Forza 4. It's because GT has always had a more repetitive play structure, and never let you race in any car you feel like. Forza is more rewarding, and almost every race you play with you play with a different car on different tracks. Also I feel that Forza 4 reflects car culture a bit more, I like collecting cars, and unlocking Auto Vista cars to look at just as much as racing them, and if I were good at painting, I would love to paint a unique 1 off car.

ethomaz Did you not see my post of the dip in FPS in GT5, the poor anti aliasing causing pixelization, and the Pagani Zonda comparision? Neither game is perfect, Forza 4 might not be able to implement the best graphics all the time, but it does it consistantly.

Your friend brought the argument up first not me and sure weather features are bounus for some, but is it really worth when the framerate can take serious hit as well as looking this ugly at times?

Booh! This is the counter arguement to your post. You showed that Forza 4 doesn't have dynamic lighting on all cars, and the level of detail changes when you play 1 player or 12 players.

Well Forza 4 never looks as pixelated as this. I heard one of the few graphical advatages 360 has over PS3 is anti alliasing, and it shows. I know shadows, especially in car for GT5, also look pixelated like hell (especially the A colum pillar).

Neither game is perfect, but in gneral Forza 4 looks better. Remember, only 20% of the cars in GT5 are even premium cars. Even if Forza 4 cars looked only on par with GT5 cars, there are 250% more cars to that level of quality.

Also don't forget

There is a huge difference in favor of Forza 4, I don't understand how you can't see that, especially in surface textures.

OK.

So here is where I will give my opinion. :)

Forza 4 outright has better graphics. Its fairly easy actually.

Firstly Forza 4 has higher resolution textures as seen above. ALOT more trackside detail closer to its reallife counterpart. And more realsitic lighting. Going into a tunnel for example looks alot better on Forza 4.

Both games make sacrifices, but GT5 makes alot more.

For example even though Forza 4 never drops a frame, it still holds a higher fidelity.

GT5 can drop as low as 30 FPS during gameplay. And at the same time have certain parts pixelated beyond belief. On top of that the Polyphony have taken alot of the realworld track detail out of the game. The lighting in GT5 is very good, but shadows during gameplay can be really pixelated.

Forza 4 does compromise some stuff like non player car reflections and some AA here and there.

But nothing near the framerate drops, resolution changes, lack of detail and poor shadows of GT5. GT5 is extremely inconsistant. Forza 4 remains alot more consistant at a higher quality visual rate than GT5 at all times.

Replays to in Forza 4 ramp up so much. Bearing iin my mind Forza 4 drops to 30FPS in replays like GT5 does, Gives Turn 10 alot more memory to play with and they use it. The level of detail in replays is amazing. As is the extra lighting.

Sound?

This is a complete non issue. Forza 4 DESTROYS GT5 sound.

As for features. What ever floats your boat. Personally Community Car clubs, Rivals mode and Forza 4's World Tour over Night Racing, Rally and Go Karts.

If I want a Rally game I'll buy a Rally game. Same for Go Karts. On the subject of Night Racing. This would be nice. However night racing is really what appens in the realworld outside of Lemans 24 hour and Singapore F1. Even F1 drivers dont really like it.

Or people here just played GT5 at launch or never played it.

So funny .

@Michael-5

You expect me to believe that you've driven corvettes and v8 beamers off what you saying you have. You didn't answer my question about a 170hp car doing 13.46 down strip cause it doesn't happen in the game.

I agree that tracks are perfectly smooth doesn't mean that you can take corner going at 70+ kph. It doesn't matter if you spend 10 thousand + or a under or whatever. My car Display pic (1991 mr2) cost me 9,700. I bet you i could out handle your beamers. Its often misleading on ohh ive got a car with a bmw badge. Just cause bmw are "racing" cars doesn't mean that they can take corners are a huge speed.

Next time you come into a corner just for a glimp check your speedo i bet you wont be going any faster than as 50kph. After than you had better be ready to catch some under/over steer.

wait are we really comparing looks for a GOD DAMN SIM again ????? you people need to get a clue for 2 sec..... it's simple which ever game has the best control, handling and reaction scheme is the best end of discussion..... and to me forza always was one step closer to reality driving than GT..... for all I car the cars could be a brick with 4 cylinder on a strip of gray color..... if the handling is more realistic it is still the best out there......
