It is true that all new copies of Batman: Arkham City will come bundled with a code that unlocks Catwoman. Those looking to purchase the game used apparently won't miss out on her nimbly-bimbly antics, Kotaku reports.

A supposed internal GameStop memo states that all customers purchasing used will be given a free code, which will be printed on their receipt following purchase. We've contacted both Warner Bros. and GameStop for additional information.

Gamestop should do this for everything that tries the online pass. Leave these insidious anti-consumer bastards out in the cold

What was the point of that pass then? Like WTF?

Where do you think Gamestop got the codes? You think they magically make them up or something?   Gamestop most likely paid for the codes through Warner Bros. so they already got there "Online pass" profit from them. 

Still. So long as it enables used sales at no cost to the consumer, it solves the problem

It's not about soaking Warner Bros, it's about making sure that no consumer has to transfer their own money to fund an immoral practice. If GameStop is willing to play their games to enable used sales, it should at least agitate Warner Bros

WTF? If I understand this correctly, the purpose of the code was to make people purchase the game new and not go to second hand stores like Gamestop and buy a used copy of the game. Now, people who buy the game used at Gamestop will get the code, too. So what is the purpose of that code? I mean, other than making sure that, when I play the game ten years from now on a console that isn't connected to the net (because my old console died), I won't have the full experience.....

Gamestop has to pay warner brothers universal for the code.

So they get money for used games this way.

I find this hilariously ironic.

So instead of screwing GameStop, they screwed end users that sold their used games directly to other people and now will be forced to sell through GameStop, so at the same time selling users will receive less and buying ones will have to pay more than buying directly. As often, corporations reach an agreement to stop fighting, and the deal usually implies to join their forces to screw consumers better.

I agree with you actually. I hadn't thought of them being this devious. I thought it would be gamestop countering warner bros.

But it seems to be cooperation instead.
