Still wish more Americans would buy the PS3, but it is really to late to change that. Otherwise it is good see both the 360 and PS3 perform about the same.

I doubt the 360 will fall again because the holiday season will pick it up, but this data makes me a little more confident the 360 will not out sell the PS3 by much over the holidays if at all. Very glad the HD sales have continued to gain market share to the wii with the PS3 reaching 27% worldwide. The PS3 has gained about 6% market share since I joined and it deserves it.

I assume that Nintendo sends out their press releases to a select few websites instead of posting them on nintendo.com, that's why there is no link. At least that's how they did it this month.

There's really no reason to suspect that nintendoeverything made up this press release.

So the press release wasnt BS after all, LOLz.

So now is the mystery of where the heck VG get its U.S. numbers from. Unless Americas means all of north, south  and central Americas or something.

There's a methodology page somewhere on this website, but in short:

VGC collects data from a number of retailers and then estimates numbers for the whole region. Most of the time the numbers they arrive at are fine, but there can be some notable differences from time to time, especially shortly after price cuts.

Estimates? 87,254 sound like an exact number to me.

Anyways  ~140,000 overtracking is unacceptable. its not even the same month as the pricecut. Is that some kind of record for a month or somethin?

Well japanese numbers is the same as media creates so I guess japan is reliable.
