Forums - Gaming - Activision announces new Men in Black game

Alright well Activision announced the new Men in Black title headed to consoles in 2012. Right away's the rumor mill started as Activision didn't mention exactly which platforms the game would be coming too. Stories began going around and Activision released two apparent screenshots of the game. It is a given that the title is likely headed to WiiU but Sony Pictures confirms that the game is headed to Next-Gen consoles.

"With Activision bringing the Men In Black universe to life on next-gen consoles for the first time, the Men In Black video game will be both familiar to fans, an exciting beginning for the uninitiated, and revolutionary for the franchise." - VP of licensing at Sony Pictures Entertainment Mark Caplan.

Well this isn't direct confirmation the title is a PS4 title however his term wasn't WiiU it was Next-gen consoles which means more then one console. The game does appear visually impressive!

This news is huge, this is the first confirmed multiplatform title for the next generation. It also seems to suggest that Nex-Box and PS4 are going to launch in 2012. Not only does it suggest a launch window it shows just what we should expect from the next generation consoles visually. These are the first screen shots of a next generation title!

So what do you think? Impressed?

I hope next gen games look better than that...
Will Will Smith be in it?

Thread title is wrong, they're talking about the PS3 and Xbox 360 when they say next-gen.  Can you edit the thread title or would you like me to?

More likely is that 6 years into this generation, there are still people who refer to it as "next generation".

You are so gullible, Joelcool7. By now you really should know that "next-gen" is a common term used to differentiate the Xbox 360 and PS3 from the Wii.

Which is really silly when they could just use the term "unprofitable".

I was going on the fact that multiple sites including Eurogamer have concluded Sony was talking about Next-Gen systems. Source . So if I got it wrong then so did Eurogamer and Eurogamer isn't alone I saw the story from multiple different sources which I follow through Twitter. Keep in mind Activision didn't actually list the consoles it is coming too.

So if it was coming to 360/PS3 wouldn't they list it for 360/PS3? I don't recall the last time a game was announced for Next-generation consoles. The past few years they always announce titles for 360/PS3.

Many are concluding that Sony was referring to the Next-Generation and not current Gen. I guess we will have to wait for Activision to confirm which platforms it is coming to!

If it were a true next-next-gen announcement it would be all over the place.  For now, it's speculation and nothing else.  Misleading and wrong thread title is misleading and wrong.

I corrected the thread title. I get my news from developers and press releases and following members of the games industry on Twitter. Many tweeted about the first next generation game being announced. I took some of the links to reliable articles and posted the story here.

Activision should never have called the game next-generation and not revealed which consoles the game was coming too if it is a 360/PS3 game. That is very misleading as everyone knows PS3/360 are not next generation platforms and Activision is well aware of that fact. Activision also didn't list the game consoles it is coming too if it is a 360/PS3 game it should have been listed as such.

I take responsibility for the thread title assuming the title was coming to Nex-Box/PS4 however based on what Activision and Sony Pictures have said it would appear to be a real possibility. Many are thinking its a next generation title. If it isn't Activision should make a comment to correct the obvious mistake!

Edit- I guess a mod deemed it to be current gen. Man this pisses me off I hope others don't report this story and Activision apologizes for the mistake and clarifies which consoles it is coming too!

Agreed there. However its still upsetting that Activision would mislead the gaming community to believe the game is actually next generation. I wouldn't have reported it if several developers and such weren't already tweeting about it. I guess thats a problem with Twitter I thought by only adding industry people such as developers and media that I would get the best news. I saw multiple tweets about a new PS4/Nex-Box game and pounced. I just assumed that if developers and gaming press said it was next gen and the article had a quote suggesting it was that it obviously would be.

The thought didn't even cross my mind that Activision/SP would mislead people like this. Embarrasing I can't wait for Activision to actually confirm which platforms the game is headed too.

Also yah Men In Black as a game just sounds stupid. The movies are decent but a game I just don't see it as a good idea. The screens look pretty good if they are for 360/PS3 but the game sounds like crap. We'll have to wait and see!
