Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu compiled a FAQ covering all sorts of details about Vita's functions and features. We'll tell you the bad news first: at launch, Vita cannot play PSone Classics nor does the web browser support Flash content. Regarding battery life, Sony will offer an external battery that has twice the capacity of Vita's built-in battery. Screen brightness can also be changed though it's worth pointing out Vita's brightness setting is not step-based; users have fine control over how bright they want the screen to be. A quick tap on the power button will activate sleep mode if needed.
Games can be suspended by pressing the PlayStation button, allowing you to use other applications like the PS Store, Twitter, or photo viewer. You must quit out of the game entirely if you want to play something else or use the video player.
What kind of connectivity does Vita have with PlayStation 3? With Remote Play, you can stream videos and music from your PS3, possibly some games too. You can also share trophies and manage save data stored on your PS3.
If you pick up a Vita with 3G, you'll have an extra application available to monitor your 3G usage. Also keep in mind 3G Vitas will try to connect to the internet through Wi-Fi before using 3G. GPS can be used without 3G but location information can be retrieved faster with a 3G connection.
PSP users will be pleased to know Sony is looking into carrying over save data from your PSP to Vita. PSP game visuals can be smoothed out by toggling a filter.
