Forums - Sony - Play your old UMD's on Vita!

They should make a transfer device of some sort. It would make them more money in the long run by making vita more appealing.

5$ to cover shipping and handling would make sense, more then that, they are better off not offering this service at all.

Well, that's kinda lame... and, sadly, expected. Can't they know if the player/user X has that game looking at their PSN history?

I wonder how much those "special price" will be.

That is so amazingly open to piracy, and of course, there aren't any trophies on PSP anyway, but that kind of thing makes no proof of ownership, it is proof of having played it at some point

They could restrict that to games played in the last month before the "upgrade" to PSV. Neither pirates nor the ones who rented the game will bother to get a copy again, leaving only the owners of the games that still have the game (so the ones who liked it enough to not sell it) worth to get it again.

Just to clarify, I doubt Sony will bother. It's just shows Sony's new attitude regarding the users of their past consoles since the PS3 and now the PSV. I dislike this behavior from the ones how made the PS2 fully compatible with PS1 and promised the same thing with the PS3. It just states what will hapen when the PS4 launches.

Please excuse my bad English.

checking player PSN history would be silly, as that "one" game could have been passed around friends

for a special price ???
that is lame...

You know....they don't have to make it play psp games, as your psp does that just fine

it would be like a Someone owning a vhs player then Sony bring out a dvd player and having people complaining that the dvd player wont play vhs

if you want the luxury of not having to turn your old psp on anymore and still playing the games, then pay for it, otherwise just play it on your psp

I dont see how it's lame?

I think having them turn in their UMDs somehow and having them receive a voucher that they can enter on PSN is the most efficient way to do this. Depending on how practial it is for Sony, they could even refurbish most UMD and sell them in developing countries where PSV wont be relevant for a few more years.

I will just play them on my old PSP, not buying a game twice.

If I have to surrender my existing UMDs, I'll pass. If it's just a matter of sending them to sony, or taking them to a retail store, so they can be authenticated and recorded--serial number--as exchanged, then I don't mind, so long as I still have my UMDs.

If by "special price" they mean $0.40 then this will be great.
