Rarely do they add to the movie's plot. 300, Conan the Barbarian and The Matrix Reloaded could have done without the sex scene, especially the Matrix Reloaded. That went on forever.

I think the last movie I saw that its sex scenes actually added to the film's plot was Oldboy.

If they added anything meaningful to a movie then late nite movie channel movies would sweep the awards every year.

There not usless. If it's a bad movie,then those scences are the only redeming factor. Remember a campy movie called showgirls,those scences had to do with the whole plot. lol

If you mean in movies that aren't porn then I'd say that not only do they not add anything but they make a movie worse. It's best when you see that it's going to happen or it's implied that it did happen.

Sex scenes in movies seem to be an overhang from every major film released in the 80's above a PG.
