So to all the guys in here usually. The NHL realignment puts us in the same Division. COLORADO, Chicago, and Minny. Not very happy with this as I liked Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary . yet the were not really rivals. The only rivals the AVs had were Detriot and the are now Eastern. Booo. Mostly glad to see Dallas, and the suckhawks more.

Anybody else happy, sad, or mad about the changes?

Yup. Beginning next season. Rumors going around that there might be 2 more expansions within 3 years.

The realignment will be good for this board, plenty for us to talk about if Choco isn't banned. 

The President's trophy means absolutely nothing.  Ask the Canucks.

I hate the new alignment.  Taking the Red Wings out of our division would be like taking the Packers out of the Bears division.  It's one of the oldest and nastiest rivalries in hockey and the NHL wants to kill it...  I'm okay with being in the same division as Minnesota though.  It'll be just like the North Stars.  Man, I couldn't stand Dino Ciccarelli.

That was one of the most exciting games of the year.  The Jackets weren't playing around and their goalie, Bobrovski, was out of this world.  The OT saw some unbelievable saves by both goaltenders, but the shootout was the highlight.  First, Toews shoots the puck before the goalie can even react and then Kane does the exact opposite.  He goes up too him, asks him how his family is, what he had for had for dinner, puts three moves on him, and then voila - a Hawks victory. 

too bad dallas couldnt win in SO against ducks. Gordon Bombay doing a heck of a job this year

@Ryan I expect the Avalanche to lose to most clubs so losing to the Avalanche should suck even more as they are terrible for good reason. Cheap owners. Yes, I have been exercising at high altitudes.

@Kenny Please do not give that especially ugly Detriot Avy again if you win this time. It was universally thought of as ugly.

More on the realignment, the division that includes Colorado now is actually all central time zone teams excluding the Avalanche who are Mountain. This was one of the main goals of the move to have teams all in the same time zones. For me ,this means a lot rarer 8 PM game starts against Vancouver and a lot more early games probably around 6PM. This could be good or bad for me. Often means rushing home from work or just plain really early starts. All games against Colorado from the rest of the Central Division will be at 8 PM for you guys.

Also, the new alignment creates a new playoff scenario that is really interesting and  I do not fully understand it yet, but it seems really cool from what I saw.Top 3 clubs from each division make it and a wild card system.

Also, the Detriot move to the East might not be permanent. The NHL is trying to expand by two new teams in 3 years. If this happens and one of them is a Eastern team then Detriot could easily be moved back and I hope this is the case.

Finally, Hell must be freezing over because the Canadians are really good.
