55 new posts. Lets hope they are from some ne posters (probably not)

The blackhawks did not play their best last loss. However, it was amplified by bad officiating. Oilers got away with a lot of holding sticks and interference calls while the officials made two outrageous calls. One on leddy with a hold (the official standing ten feet away didn't make this call) and another on the oilers with playing with a broken stick (the guy dropped it immediatly). The difference was Oilers got to score on the power play. Sure you can argue that Blackhawks had an oppertunity also but it should have never even happen for it to depend on that.

I'd also like to point out that the scoring on a delayed penalty call rule NEEDS to be changed. I always thought that if you scored the other team did'nt get a penalty because the extra attacker from the goalie leaving the ice was considered the power play. If that is so then why the fuck wouldn't the team still get a penalty if you score short handed on a delayed penalty call... That in my opinion is dumb because the other team is still on a power play... they kinda get rewarded for sloppy playing. I was really excited for the short hander and thought the blackhawks would still get the power play since they never played a man up... then I saw they were still short handed and I said "fuck."

As for the 4 games before that... Well, it was blacked out so I can't comment. 2 of them were against Colorado and I remember Chocoloco saying all those games get blacked out on Center Ice.

That's actually a really good point about the whole delayed penalty/scoring short handed/ not geting the power play or even a 4-4. It's been like that forever though and scoring short handed on a delayed penalty happens so rarely ( I imagine) that I doubt it will ever be a seriously raised concern.

From what I have seen, Black hawksnare not too good with power plays, and I still am not really sure what a power play is. When A penalty is called and they start with a face off?

They were excellent at the start of the season scoring each game on the power play.

A power play and penalty kill are interchangable terms. It just depends on who you are talking about. All it means is the period you are playing with more players than the other team due to them committing a penalty.

Example: Blackhawks player gains the zone and is about to have a breakaway. The opposing team wants to prevent the player from getting a clean shot off but in the attempt to slow the Blackhawks player he accidentally hooks him. This is a 2 minute penalty. A power play would be talking about the Blackhawks during that 2 minute period because they are playing 5 guys versus the other teams 4. A penalty kill would be talking about the opposing team during that 2 minute period.

Did you see the play? While I was watching it I couldn't believe it. I was so ecstatic and thought that the short handed goal combined with a power play would be the game changer then it turns out they were still playing short handed and the oilers eventually score still... that's when I knew it was over

I briefly watched the highlights but didn't pay attention to what the scenarios were but I completely understand your point. I hope the goaltenders aren't in a slump right now, they can still produce offensively but they can't continue this trend of giving up 6 goals a game, especially with Anaheim being not too far behind in points. Luckily they're enjoying a 3 day break to get well rested before facing Columbus which should be a win for them.

It's actually crazy that Chicago has over double the amount of points as 5 teams in the NHL.

So I was jonesing for some hockey last night and watched the Bruins vs Penguins from the second period on. The Bruins had the game completely in control leading 2-0 in the 3rd period when the wheels fell off and they lost 3-2. Their goalie looked sharp all game and then choked it all away...

Didn't see the hit but Ducks Perry is facing a hearing for a hit on a Wild player. Anyone see it to give feed back? (looking at you Wild fan) It's good news for Blackhawks if he gets a suspension. Perry is one of the first half MVP's for the Hawks.

Saw the hit. Probably like a 5 gamme suspension considering Perry was suspended 4 games 4 years ago. Hopefully though its at least 9 because then the blackhawks will play them twice without him.

Ducks Perry suspended 4 games. All 4 teams are tough too. Blues, Sharks, Stars, Blackhawks... I thought it should be 5 for previous suspension... hopefully hawks can capitalize next week.
