Marks said: Looks like my team is out. I'm bummed, but when all's said and done they made the West finals. Amazing year, pretty much everyone had Chicago taking them out round 1. Career year for Smith and Vrbata, great years for guys like Yandle, Doan, Hanzal, Boedker, etc. Now we just have to wait and see if they're still in Phoenix next year, or if they're the Vegas/Kansas City/Quebec Coyotes. I would NOT cheer for them if they go to Quebec. |
Good season even though it was obvious their destruction of the Blackhawks annoyed me. From the many rumors, everyone is talking like it will be Seattle or Quebec. I know that Quebec city is building an arena in September for something so it could be done to draw the Coyotes there. If true I think they would have at least one more year owned by the NHL in Phoenix. I tell you though a team in Kansas City or Vegas just does not seem right. I do know the avs are playing a preseason game in Kansas City so perhaps the NHL is testing the market in KC. I hope not as I would be forced to dislike the team due to Denver's tradition of football rivalry with the city. One thing is for sure they were probably profitable in Phoenix this year because of the many playoff games so it might be possible they will stay if bought.

I'd bet the farm they lost money again this year.
Kansas City will be another Atlanta, let's cut the middle man out this time and move them somewhere in Canada - Quebec City or Toronto I say. Toronto could easily support two teams, its a matter of MLSE allowing a second team in to compete with their team.
Being in Vancouver I would love a Seattle team, but I don't think they would fair that well. If they lost an NBA franchise, what chance does a franchise of a much less popular sport have?
