Forums - Sports - The OG NHL thread: The Cup worth biting for

Who will win?

Chicago Blackhawks 12 80.00%

Tampa Bay Lightning 3 20.00%

Total:15

So the league is adding two teams next year ( I think) and I just wanted to say I am mad about what I heard will happen. The AVS will be taken out of the northwestern division and moved into a new four team division with the Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix, Coyotes, and surprisingly the Nashville Predators. I would be so mad if this is true (and I heard it from a reliable source because:

1. I will miss the long rivalries we had with Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary. a lot
2. It puts the avs against the predators which is a team not even close to the west.St. Louis is closer and they still put in Nashville I mean come on do it geographically correct.
3. I want to be in the division with Dallas Damnitt (alright small complaint)

As for the rest of the league they will have to make changes as well with a new division also being created in the East. I know it is unavoidable, but I also wonder if this league even has enough talent for two more teams.

That is strange because I believe in most sports they do try to keep them together. Although with baseball's interleague play that has become a mute point because the teams still have to go all over the place and still do the other games that are not in their area.

Is the division your teams is going into harder or easier?

Lol based off this season a lot easier.

No, really only slightly easier.

I guess it makes sure there is potentially always something interesting to me when I come on. This place has gotton so boring for me since certain thread creators have left overtime.

Now stay on topic or I will sic Montana Hatchet on you.

Where the heck did you hear this?  It was reported last month after the league met with the team owners that they were planning on going back to the old 4 conference or division format they used to have prior to all the expansions in the mid-90s.  The three divisions in the east and west will be condensed into two each, with 7 teams apiece in the east for 14, and 8 apiece in the west for 16 (Winnipeg will be moved to one of the western conferences next season, with no proposal to move any teams east).  No expansion teams were ever mentioned or even rumored about during these meetings, and with Atlanta just losing its franchise and Phoenix still in danger of losing the Coyotes, I seriously doubt there will be any more teams added to the league anytime soon.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Lack of sleep. Thanks for clearing that up. I only heard part of a conversation from announcers during a Ducks-Avalanche game. So actually I was hoping someone would clear it up for me.

Getting pretty sick of the AVS hot then Cold season. It is a characteristic of a young team though so I am not surprised.

Have been very impressed out how Ken Hitchcock has totally turned the St Louis Blues team around. The fight to see who wins the Central division will probably be one of the most interesting things to watch this year.

Yeah, the game last night was disappointing, especially after seeing them play the first period so well.

Wouldn't it be something if the Hawks and Canucks meet again in the playoffs? I'm thinking Western Finals, with the winner facing the Bruins or Rangers for the cup.

(Dream: Canucks and Bruins rematch. We'll have our police in riot gear before the final game ends).

Would really enjoy seeing the Canucks and Blackhawks again because they play exciting offensive style. Tim Thomas and his boring team can sit on the sidelines if I am going pick matchups for entertainment value. I want to see the Rangers in the final from the East, or Toronto because Canada would go bat shit crazy.

If that happens, keep your eyes peeled for the crazed ice-streaking lunatic. I'll be sure to give you a shout out too!

If you do that I will be there to bail you out of jail in time so you don't miss any more games.

What passion a man must have if he is willing to freeze his junk for his team.
