europe and ap really save ps3 from getting toppeled this year. It seems PS3 always gain 200k in those two regions. Even with all the sales of the x360 I dont think it will be able to push the NPD numbers the 900k+ to counter 200k weekly global ps3 gain pattern

Just a note to be added. PS3 is undertracked 50k just in the U.S.A. (Basing on NPD November numbers) and the Wii is overtracked by 150k just in the U.S.A. (again just basing on NPD November numbers) I know I have no "real" figures for this but considering and looking at the deals (for hardware) and software in Europe (GFK) PS3 and 360 both look underestimated the PS3 more so. So I don't think it's exactly safe to call any console "the best selling console of 2011" untill there aren't proper adjustments made. I will try to find sources for Europe hardware sales though.

PLEASE stop coming into every thread and calling everything undertracked/overtracked because of NPD numbers! It's been said a billion times how NPD isn't 100% accurate so we will not follow it 100%.

Seece, did you lose interest in updating this?

He said he's going to update the thread fortnightly (every two weeks).  Though, I think after this week he said he's going to start updating it weekly.

Yeah I'll update weekly now, it's a pain in the ass the way sales are laid out at the minute, basically have to start from fresh every single update ><

Thanks for correcting the incredibly misinformed sales noob Millenium. How anyone can think Microsoft are making a loss on X360 baffles me, and then to say they lose more than Sony do on the PS3!

I don't get Microsoft's plan with Europe. They said they wanted to be number 1 there and would do it with tailored advertising over the continent. Now I'm sure sales are up, they've said they're spending a significant amount of money advertising over Europe this holiday, but tbh why did they think that would be enough? No price cut, gift cards do't boost sales here like they do in the US, and its two rivals had a $50 price cut .... Kinect wasn't huge here last xmas either ...

Perhaps they were banking on huge UK numbers (does seem to be doing very well here) but overall, no chance.

I'll be surprised if they come in January and announce they sold better/on par with PS3 and Wii in Europe over the holidays.

And I was talking about Europe so this post doesn't have one ounce of relevance...thanks for your input.

Wow.. and here I am sitting almost in the geographical middle of Europe, quoting actual regional European retail prices, thinking that this has anything to do with Europe. Silly me.

But thanks again for your geographical insight.

No, he has a point, he was talking about Europe and you bring up some US prices? That don't even make sense with what you're saying. On top of that you're grossly misinformed on who is losing more money on hardware.
