software wise

FIFA - impressive
Pro Evo - Konami, just forget it (yes I know we are missing some sales here but it has been eclipsed now)
Deus Ex - slow sales for a slow game (imo)
Res3 - the series retires with a flicker.
Kinect - is grinding to a halt (is it a holiday thang?)

I can defiantly see Kinect picking up around the holidays.

I just think Kinect is undertracked.  Not counting any standalone units 1 in 10 360s is a bundle with Kinect in these numbers.  Counting standalone units and it would be even worse.  Dont think that is the case. Gamasutra in August said Kinects sell with 52% of 360s.

Nah, the numbers feel right I think.  Kinect has had no titles to drive interest for ages, with Child of Eden, Nightmares, etc. all proving weak at retail.  Right now people are going to be buying Gears bundles and soon they'll be buying MW3 bundles.  Interest in Kinect is low right now and this won't change by the looks of things until the holidays when advertising will ramp up and people with starting thinking about it again.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

YOY

360 DOWN 2% (ok)
PS3 DOWN 26% (not good)
Wii DOWN 29% (poor)

DS+3DS UP 10% (not good enough)
PSP DOWN 40% (its over)

PS2 DOWN 54% (sayonara)

So the difference between "not good" and "poor" is a small 3 %. Factor in who has had a price cut just recently and the stronger release schedule and your statement becomes even more questionable.

GoG

Wii UP ~800 % (respectable)

LOL

Crazy FIFA, 3DS and 360 numbers.

Rest is 'Meh'. Damn summer.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Dark Souls two-week Japanese sales: 320,000
Demon's Souls lifetime Japanese sales: 300,000

Impressive, just wait for NA & EU.

i think this is MS last wk at 200k for this month likely 180k next wk, but its still positive growth for the yr.

PS3 did wht i thought it would do, and every thing ninty except 3DS is more then disappointing.
that said the future is apone us,and that future is Wiiu!

Fifa still selling ass loads with with 3m sold for the wk.

The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection puts up a modest gain.

i can see R3 is going to have it hard sells wise.

GEARS 600k

theres really nothing more to talk about.

YoY makes things look worse, but this far in the gen, and considering how they managed to outsell weekly the former leader of this gen, and how much more balanced is the competition this gen compared to the previous, I'd say XB360 performance is excellent and PS3 very good. The real meh things are Wii and  DS wasted opportunities. I never believed Malstrom BS about Wii sinking competitors, but I was persuaded Wii could have kept on thriving even with XB360 and PS3 solving their initial problems and thriving too, their respective markets proved to be different enough, and let's not mention DS, that wasted an overwhelming leadership, with PSP able to beat it only in Japan and only in the second half of this gen. About PS3 price cut boost fading, it was a small cut, and street price was already cut to 279€ in many EU places. Now, after the initial boost and fast drop, many stores are pricing the entry level PS3 229€, we'll see if the new street price will help more than the new RRP. About Kinect, depending on console's computing power, I expect a big boost for it on XB720, that could allow lower lag and cool features like tracking two or even more couples dancing simultaneously, this would make it the king of motion controls for dance games and both Sony and Nintendo would be forced to respectively upgrade or add a camera with depth detection to allow hands-free gaming (but Kinect, being first at it, could easily keep the lead in thae hands-free segment). A wand/stick/dildo/ice cream/whatever with navigation control could widen its chances in core gaming too.

Anyway, how I see it, just very short term, WoW and also keeping in mind that last week was huge for XB360 and good for PS3 and 3DS:

Japan:

Meh week, but expected, the only good thing is PSP SW

WW:

HW: Between good and very good week for PS3, good week overall, with XB360, helped by FIFA and X-Men, holding very well after the Gears boost. SW: Excellent SW for PS3 and XB360 (360 is obviously down, after the huge Gears boost, but it held very well), good SW for PSP, PC, Wii and PS2, not good DS and 3DS, DS has less and less new titles, so it can't sell much SW when HW doesn't sell well, 3DS still has too little big SW, it can't sell well either. BTW, considering that with little native SW, many old DS titles must be purchased by 3DS owners, this makes DS SW sales look even worse.

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

Looks like Gears 3 did about as well as I predicted...only 3k short!

GT5 should go up again in next weeks with Spec 2.0, Price Drop (US) and DLCs .
