YoY makes things look worse, but this far in the gen, and considering how they managed to outsell weekly the former leader of this gen, and how much more balanced is the competition this gen compared to the previous, I'd say XB360 performance is excellent and PS3 very good. The real meh things are Wii and DS wasted opportunities. I never believed Malstrom BS about Wii sinking competitors, but I was persuaded Wii could have kept on thriving even with XB360 and PS3 solving their initial problems and thriving too, their respective markets proved to be different enough, and let's not mention DS, that wasted an overwhelming leadership, with PSP able to beat it only in Japan and only in the second half of this gen. About PS3 price cut boost fading, it was a small cut, and street price was already cut to 279€ in many EU places. Now, after the initial boost and fast drop, many stores are pricing the entry level PS3 229€, we'll see if the new street price will help more than the new RRP. About Kinect, depending on console's computing power, I expect a big boost for it on XB720, that could allow lower lag and cool features like tracking two or even more couples dancing simultaneously, this would make it the king of motion controls for dance games and both Sony and Nintendo would be forced to respectively upgrade or add a camera with depth detection to allow hands-free gaming (but Kinect, being first at it, could easily keep the lead in thae hands-free segment). A wand/stick/dildo/ice cream/whatever with navigation control could widen its chances in core gaming too.
Anyway, how I see it, just very short term, WoW and also keeping in mind that last week was huge for XB360 and good for PS3 and 3DS:
Japan:
Meh week, but expected, the only good thing is PSP SW
WW:
HW: Between good and very good week for PS3, good week overall, with XB360, helped by FIFA and X-Men, holding very well after the Gears boost. SW: Excellent SW for PS3 and XB360 (360 is obviously down, after the huge Gears boost, but it held very well), good SW for PSP, PC, Wii and PS2, not good DS and 3DS, DS has less and less new titles, so it can't sell much SW when HW doesn't sell well, 3DS still has too little big SW, it can't sell well either. BTW, considering that with little native SW, many old DS titles must be purchased by 3DS owners, this makes DS SW sales look even worse.
