Forums - Website Topics - Is there a reason why Vgchartz is unusually slow as of late?

Definitely the site has been pretty slow for the past couple of months. 503 errors, sql errors, even 404 errors. Today it's taking me between 10-15 seconds for each page to load.

I heard one guy even got the Red Ring of Death!

Damn, I guess that BSOD a couple of minutes ago wasn't an accident...curse you VGC!!! *shakes fist*

Yup... it's running really slow today for some reason.

I am getting this like whole day (it took me around a hour to get to the forums and to this thread:

Same. Switched to chrome and it worked fine. Switched to IE and it worked. I wonder if this has anything to do with firefox ad-blocking the ads on this site.

Apparently the site has moved to a smaller server. Combined with the disappearance of the data and charts, I'd say this site is slimming down to being a small dedicated site instead of the huge money printing machine some hoped it would become.

What do you mean? I thought those were in Pro now, they still have them right?

Oh. I thought they meant something else. Yeah those were taken away so that they could make more money off of them. They have not been brought back yet , so I can imagine it is working for them.

Nope, VGChartz Pro doesn't exist yet, there has only been an inquiry form for over a year now. It's probably not going to happen anymore. Which is really sad because this site used to be all about the chart tools and now we have none left.

I've also been having this problem lately; it takes me like 30 seconds to load up a page. I've been experiencing it every now and then ever since the site split up into sections.Pretty annoying. Speaking of annoying, I hope the drop-down Call of Duty ad doesn't come back again for MW3.

ioi just explained again in his recent embed code thread that he posted today what is going on and how long it will take to remedy.

Do you have a link to the thread?

BTW I can safely say I have seen every error message possible.

Huh? Pro is up and running... it's merely inquiry based.

And everything else you've said about the future of the site is also wrong. A quick read of Brett's sticky on the forums will tell you that.

O/T/ - yes, this is driving me nuts, trying to do work on the site and every other page doesn't load. Argh!

If that is true, why is it saying "VGChartz Pro is still in development and is due to release in August 2011" when it's almost november? If you say that VGChartz Pro is up and functioning well, then it's true ofcourse, but why does ioi try to hide it like that? I can't imagine many people knowing it exists the way its handled.

Today, this site is slow to the point where it's unusable. It's had issues before but I've never seen it this bad. I'm using Firefox, btw.

Using adblock and disabling sigs should help your speed on this

i got adblock on firefox specifically for the RAGE adds thats been on most of the gaming websites lately.

It really changes the whole look of a website.
