Forums - Website Topics - Profiles Load Slow - But I have a solution~

Recently ioi took great interest in the idea of adding  "Consoles I own" information to user profiles and part of me said "oh no, not more crap to load when opening a profile".  But I think I have a solution that incorporates both of these things.

Once the "Consoles I own" information is tracked in the database, change the layout of the "games i own" section on the profile page so that you see the console, followed by the 5 highest rated games that person owns for the console and then a link that says "view all my [console name] games"...and either at the top or bottom put a link to let people see all of their games regardless of console.

I'm not 100% sure where the server issues are coming from but this sort of adjustment might help reduce server stress if it is one of the problems.

I wouldn't pinpoint one page as the cause - I think that the main problem (if there is one; I haven't seen much slowdown) is the recent increase in regular visitors. This can be solved using better hardware paid for by the advertising money generated by the additional visitors.

I didn't mean for Consoles I Own to be in the profile but in the posts below the username.

If you are interested in trying Ubuntu or Linux in general, PM me and I will answer your questions and help you install it if you wish.

Uh, I haven't experienced any slow loading of profiles either. Not at all. Are you sure it's not just your connection or computer that's slow? :p

PSP: 37 Million

Try my profile, or someone like soriku's who uses a backround picture, and then tell me there aren't pofiles that load slowly.

I tried yours, Nintendownsmii, and I didn't have a problem. Alright, it took a tiny bit longer to get all your pictures to display, but not more than 2 seconds. I counted. :p Two seconds doesn't seem anything to make a fuss about, in my opinion.

I don't know if this would solve any specific problem...but I love the idea.

I'm waiting to finish adding the games I own until there is a way to sort them.  This would be the first step toward that.

My profile loads super quick, in fact I think it's the quickest for some odd reason.

You're right, mine actually loads really slow for some odd reason (even slower than ones like NintendoOwnsMii's profile with a lot of games).  I even tried taking out all the games and it loads super slow.  It must be the weight of the profile view count.

Game pics load slowly, but everything else is quick
