Forums - Microsoft - If Microsoft go Handheld...

Honestly, the only company who seems to really understand what people are looking for from a handheld gaming system is Nintendo ...

If Microsoft wanted to be successful they would have to focus on easy to pick up games that can be played in short time-periods and have a broad appeal.

They havn't even made a profit on home consoles yet (okay on paper maybe 'cause they lumped RRoD costs all into one quarter, but not really) after 6 years and you're looking at a handheld?

Chance it'll happen - none
Chance it'd be successful - none
Chance I'm talking out my arse and could be wrong - 2%

I think the only way they'd go would be a PSP type portable, possibly with some features to interact w/ your PC. However we have seen how well the PSP has fared - took a couple of years to take off, and even though it's now doing respectable business, I'm not sure anyone thinks the market could support two such consoles at the same time. Odds are good the MS version would never take off.

I think it would be great if zune 3.0 could play games you downloaded off xboxlive.

Is the zune doing horrible? I don't think I have seen sales but I do know there is interest. I work at radioshack and people do come in a buy stuff for them. True not as much as Ipods but there is a market.

@ zackblue did you get a rrod on your 360? If not seriously stfu about now. Everything you post is just anti ms crap. For now on I shall think of you as negative nancy.

MS will not enter the handheld

Did the Empire go out of their way to squash the Ewoks?

Sure they wheren't exactly tolerated, but since they didn't threaten their Empire, they left them alone.

Same with MS's Empire, handhelds don't exactly threaten taking over the living room. They can't be living room media centers*, which is what MS's is after.

Microsoft entering the Handheld market would be a very stupid move, apart from the fact its too late now(psp,ds), they wouldnt have enough steam to sell as much as PSP or DS, because its brand just wouldnt sell aswell as the competitiors in all regions.

xboy : graphics 360 wise

Xboy..that does sound rather..queer

Lol, I was thinking the same thing.

It's not going to happen. They would have to compete for second with the already established PSP. In order to do that they would have to match it and they just wouldn't get anywhere because well, they wouldn't be.

They could match everything the PSP is and more and even throw in some of what the DS has and then they would be stuck with an expensive portable that nobody but the hardcore wants. They would eventually have to lower the price and keep lowering the price to make it anywhere near appealing for consumers and developers and it would just be one disaster after another.

See what I did there?

they will do it next generation when graphics are able to support xbox graphics and they will release some of their xbox games for the portable.

XPS- Xbox Portable System

I just came back from my Time Machine. Microsoft actually releases a portable in 2014, called "Microsoft Wonder Stream." I don't know why they would choose such a stupid name, but they did. Anyways, it launched for $299, and it has Xbox 360 graphics. It's losing against the Nintendo TS (Tri Screen), Sony Playstation Portable 2, and the Samsung Apple Berry. Yes, Samsung entered the gaming market. Of course the Nintendo TS is outselling the competition. They have Halo: Enter the Dark Zone, and man, it's definitely the portable's best game.
