Given that each car has a special model made specifically for that mode, and each one (according to that article) is nearing in on a million polygons... plus having immense details under the hood and in the interiors (actually trying to replicate the different materials used) - plus having them interactable - I can see why the number is so low. It's actually quite amazing how they managed to do that many IMO given that they also managed to change (don't want to say "improve" just yet) the driving model in the game a fair amount and add new/recreate old tracks and add a good number of new cars while enhancing old ones too. Then there's the graphics upgrades with the new lighting and all. They do a ton of outsourcing but the end result still seems like a lot of whole lot of work for just 2 years time. |
You have to realize that Turn 10 is a company of over 300 people where Polyphony Digital is only about 140 people. With double the manpower Turn 10 can do what PD do in half the time.
What gets me excited is that, what if the Auto Vista car models will be the car models in Forza 5 on the Next-Box? They might not be directly, but they will give us an idea of what to expect. I'm excited now.
