I think it was a mistake for them to drop the jRPG development so fast. It left a bad impression on jRPG fans like myself when they did that. Next generation, I don't think I'll be getting the Xbox console and probably the five other people that bought the console for jRPGs instead of shooters feel the same way.

Exactly what JRPG development has Sony done for the PS3?  It looks like most companies have moved away from that area.  It is likely JRPGs aren't what they used to be as far as relevance to the market.  The portable market, which is a growth area in Japan, has seen it get the bulk of JRPGs.

Wasn't really talking about Sony in my post, but they are now getting the majority of the third party exclusive support as far as home consoles are concerned.  Tales series, Ni no Kuni, all the NIS games, etc.

I mention Sony, because Sony has gone down a similar path as Microsoft and hasn't valued JRPGs as being important.  Early on, with the PS3, there was a state of perplexing regarding the PS3 and it not having JRPGs.  Microsoft did look like they tried, but then moved on.  Handhelds have, this generation, seen their share of JRPGs, far more than home consoles.

MS won't get Japan cause its not there market. i don't think JRPG's would have help'd either other wise they would have sold twice as much as they have so far with blu dragon, star ocean, and LOST ODYSSEY.

their were weeks that X360 was outselling the PS3 in Japan,  yes with a lot more effort they could have made it,   only they give up because the market is way to small and needs to much effort to conquer.

i know but it wouldn't have mattered.

MS thought Japan was like the rest of the world even having led PS3 in sells in Japan but MS was dead wrong. they thought Halo and other shooters were there trump cards when shooters strted taking off and they were dead wrong.

MS has a good formula but still lacking an identity. if the smooth out the ruff edges i think they'll be a bigger threat next gen.

What?  They had a lot for japan,  how many exclusives and time exclusives did they got in Japan?  20-30?  40?

Even got a a huge a group of fans (including the weird cat eating girl X_X)...

dud thats just how i see it. your telling me things i already know which is pointless. i never said they had nothing for Japan. check my quote to darthtigers and you'll see i've reluctantly gave MS credit for there work in Japan.

360 is just not a product for Japan, but i have faith MS will do beter next gen as will Sony in the U.S.

>_>  Then where did that  'MS though Japan was like the rest of the world'    came from?

i call like i see it. i mean really! wht are they doing in Japan that catters to that market right now other then GEARS3? for GEARS to be in the top 10 in Japan and 360's climb back over 3k means they've done something right, but whts next?

if you say Halo or fable journey then you'll have  to show me proof those franchises have done well in Japan.

X360 already conquering US and UK very well, M$ really shouldn't be so greedy... xD

they should have focused on some Blue dragon spin offs.. I really wished for a blue dragon 2 and an blue dragon adventure game ..
