The PS3 just had a $50 price cut. Sales seemed moderate in the first few weeks, but, more recently, numbers have dropped pretty low making the cut's effect seem minimum. It's safe to say this price cut's effect was pretty 'lukewarm'. Obviously, Sony's not gonna ride out the effects of this cut during next holiday, so one has to wonder: What's the PS3 gonna have next year?

Price cut. Next gen's gonna be starting next year with the Wii U. Obviously Sony's not gonna leave the PS3 at $249 during this time. Hell, they wouldn't leave it $249 if there was no Wii U. A price cut is all but guaranteed, but the question is: how much? and when? Looking at the current effect of their most recent price cut, another $50 price cut probably wouldn't be best for the PS3 in 2012 and would probably cause it to lose a decent amount of marketshare. A $50 price cut on it's own is out of the question IMO. If Sony does rely solely on a price cut, that cut will likely be over $50. Possibly a $75 cut or similar.

Revision. When Sony introduced the slim model three years after the PS3's release, HW sales skyrocketed. When Holiday 2012 rolls around, It'll be another three years since that time & 6 years after the PS3's release. Will Sony want to introduce another slimer model? I think there's a decent chance that this will happen. Current gen consoles will start to appear old & dull espescially with the Wii U releasing next year. A new slim model would be great to help the PS3 appear new & fresh. If Sony does introduce another slim model, it'll likely be accompanied by at least a $50 price cut.

I think in 2012 nothing because they did just recently drop it to $249, but in early 2013 they'll drop it to $200 and maybe have a hardware revision, then they'll announce the PS4 at E3 2013 and it'll be out in November 2013

I'm gonna have to disagree with that. Before the price drop PS3 won each week by about 10-15k over the 360, but since the price drop it's been winning by like 50k per week. 

This week the 360 raped because of Gears 3 though. 

Games haven't moved hardware this year and I think everyone agrees with me that this is the PS3s best year in terms of games.(multiplatform and exclusive)

The recent price drop for the PS3 was kind of sudden and was announced without much fan fare or big releases / exclusives... I had assumed they would do it closer to the holidays around the time of big releases like Uncharted 3 to really boost sales. Plus not all retailers dropped their prices at the same time... some took longer than others, and some still haven't dropped it at all.

Next year I expect another $50 price drop to $199 for the 160GB core model (or whatever low end model they have) to coincide with the release of the Wii U, which probably won't be more than $299 at launch, and I expect the 360 to be down to $149 by that time as well to keep their $50 price difference over Sony going.

Agree with you about the drop to $199 next year around the launch of the Wii U (I think that will end up costing more in the line of $349).  However, I think MS will probably just discontinue the cheap 360 and go with one 250GB model at $199.
