I should point out that the game likes to be mysterious about how it works, so unless you go to the wikis, you'll only know and understand what you can figure out for yourself. Oh, and it's quite hard, but completely possible as long as you learn its mechanics properly. I'm a pretty poor gamer and I can still play Demon's Souls.

I'll be picking up this game soon from amazon using the handy $20 credit I got from Gears 3. I got a feeling my 360 controller is going to be in danger of getting smashed once I get it.

The game is H.A.R.D , Demon's souls feels like vacation compared to it ... no kidding
and yet, some online features make it much harder like the Gravelord sign.

i challenge this game to drive me insane, or at least, frustrate me. =D .. // Question though, whats a Gravelord Sign? I did import the american version back then (cuz i am one of the leet europpz!.. that kinda killed the sales over here..), but this term doesnt seem familiar at all. o:

It's a part of the new Covenants system ,in which you give an oath to one of the lords to gain special abilities and features, the "Gravelord Servant" covenant is related to Nito (the ugly black skull), if you join his covenant it will give you "Illness inflicting" weapons/spells and the ability to use the Gravelord Sign .. :

"Being a Gravelord's servant allows you to invoke the gravelord ability, which consists of you placing a soul sign of your own on the ground. This soul sign will appear in 3 other player's worlds, wherever you sat the sign down. It is in the best interest for players to hide the soul sign to avoid what I'm about to mention. While the gravelord is invoked, black phantom monsters (upgraded versions of already difficult creatures) will be summoned in 3 other worlds.

The reason for invoking the gravelord isn't to gain humanity. Invasions are. When using the gravelord, if a player dies while under the effect of it, his blood stain will be robbed of half of his souls, all of which are given to the gravelord. If a player finds the soul sign of the gravelord, he can invade the gravelords world and kill him, thus freeing all 3 worlds of the curse. To be frank, all 3 players can invade at the same time, which makes the gravelord very risky, abeit extremely fun."

This is crazy. I've beaten the second boss and the amount of traps now is insane, all of my humanity is gone due to dying , I look like un ugly beast at the moment :S , but I have to admit , I've never had so much fun in a long time , the game is a masterpiece.

LOL How awesome.. ill go gravelordthingy for sure. ^_^ i was a pretty big asshole in Demons Souls, killing Player's and take away their souls and progress. and i have no intention to change that. ;D

(Even though i played very cheap when it came to PVP, i was just pwning them with an enchanted Meat Cleaver and an assfull of strength. they had no chance.)

edit: i wonder though, how do people decide to give an oath? is it something you select while creating a character, or is it a feature that has to be unlocked?

I think I may play this game offline for the first week. Mainly due to the Gravelord ability....

Also I was wondering how do you join Covenants? As do you have to meet certain conditions..?
