Forums - Politics - Gary Johnson for President in 2012?

Any of you ever hear of Gary Johnson? Kind of a legendary figure out here. You can see why here http://www.gq.com/news-politics/politics/201111/gary-johnson-republican-candidate-debate-interview?currentPage=1

- Anti-War
- Pro legalizing pot / drugs to save money on drug war
- Pro Choice
- Legalized purchasing beer on Sunday, upped speed limit to 75 MPH on NM highways
- Left New Mexico with a $1 billion per year state surplus
- Climbed four of the seven tallest peaks in the world (including climbing to the top of Everest on a broken leg despite frostbite)
- Vetoed over 500 bills in office - effectively made NM government more efficient and cheaper
- In favor of sane immigration reform - anyone who wants to work in the US can - would issue unlimited work visas for those who pass background check but not citizenship and have immigrants live in the US and pay taxes. Kids (if US born) as full citizens of course.
- Started a company at age 21 now worth millions and employing 1000s of people in NM
- Self made millionaire
- States / individual can decidef gay marriage

People are difficult to govern because they have too much knowledge.

When there are more laws, there are more criminals.

Judging from that list he sounds pretty promising, especially the surplus part since that's what the US needs pretty bad.

i like him

I like Gary Johnson or Ron Paul for 2012. They're both awesome.

I don't really think Gary has a shot in hell of winning though so I'm on the Ron Paul bandwagon. I just hope America isn't retarded and re-elects Obama or votes in some other republican that will just continue borrowing/spending.

I think it will come down to lesser of two evils, given I am not really following the republican nomination process, so maybe it won't.

hopefully chris christie.

i like ron paul and gary johnson, but their foreign policies are idiotic.

I've known of Gary before the primaries, and have been supporting him even before he announced.

Great guy, great governor. He's like Ron Paul but younger, and with executive experience. Provided he is still in the race by the time the battle comes to Ohio, I will vote for him.

Additionally, the race is pretty interesting, since Herman Cain won the largest straw poll in the US in Florida... Which was out of no where.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Not if its Ron Paul though dude he's actually legit. He'll probably be the best president America has had in a long ass time. He's fiscally responsible and also supports civil liberties and following the constitution.
