Money is overrated.

Honestly I have always been pretty broke, journalists don't make money at least I didn't. So I always worked a second job which even when I worked full time I didn't make more then I do on disability. When I was working full time I brought in 800$ a month on disability I bring in about 500$ after my rent. So in total around 800 something not exactly sure how much as the Government deals with my rent.

However 500$ spending money isn't much after you take into consideration all the bills from internet to phone to cable to hydro etc....etc... Once all my bills are gone I am down to like 275$ and then after food I'm way lower. But then include the fact I was a movie/game critic you'll realize I love movies and games. So I see a movie once a week and usually buy one game a month.

So that uses up my entire cheque. But over the summer I went on a missions trip which I had to fund a lot of, I also went to PAX which cost a further 850$ or so. Now I am 1,700$ in the hole and I'm expected to launch a gaming website by January but need to hire a web designer because I lack the skills needed to develop it myself. Then I need to buy an I-Phone 5 because the developers demanded it which will increase my monthly cell plan and cost about 150-250$ for the phone. Lastly my computer keeps freezing and I found out Its the heat sync or something. The computer shop wants like 120$ to repair it, so I've decided its so old and its not worth fixing so I'm buying a laptop.

All the while I am desperatly searching for a job so I can survive off income assistance (Disability) but I haven't been able to find a job in over a year.

My advice to you, if you can avoid it. Don't get credit cards as they help drag you way deeper into debt, though on the flip side they mean you can keep buying that game each month and seeing movies and such!

damn......only if you made this thread 6 months ago I'd lmao @ you, but right now I'm kinda in a similar situation.

do you at least still have your job??

yeah, thats how i'll manage , but i've took a lot of vacations recently for my law exams, so thats why i ran out

no salary + spending too much on study + the fact that i'm studying outside of hometown (pay for rent , tickets ...ect) , and my favorite excuse... too much good games being released

Yeah, that reality hit me hard when I started getting serious with school 18 months ago. All you do is spend big bucks at the University.

I'm not broke per se . I still manage to make yearly trips around the World, but I don't spend money on guilty pleasures anymore.

Not all of us have businesses like Kowenicki stacking millions.

you know , you kinda have the same sitiuation as me , but the difference my salary is a little bit less (its laughable that my salary is lesser than the income assistance that i get) , and the income assisstance i get is because i'm a law student abroad.

also about credit cards, i actually need them because thats how i pay for my studies, you see i buy the books and bill each semester while being in my hometown, then when its time for exams i take a couple of days off from my job and board  the nearest plane there.

my current job is just a placeholder till i finish my law masters

Maybe his business consists of stacking millions.  Not sure what in the millions his business stacks, but if it pays the bills, more power to him.
