Forums - Sony - Shuhei Yoshida doesn’t recommend to import PSV from Japan

President of Sony Worldwide Studio has posted on Twitter that he doesn’t recommend to import PS Vita from Japan because of some “minor nuisances”.

 Citing Yoshida’s tweet:
There are people who are interested in importing the Japanese version of PS Vita from outside Japan, but I personally do not recommend that.

Then he not-well explains why:
Sorry I’m not explaining well, but from my experience owning both US and J game consoles of everything, there tend to be minor nuisances.

One of those “minor nuisances” that Yoshida mentioned:
Like inconsistency between the use of x and o buttons between system software and games.

Also, if you ever wondered why X and 0 is swapped in Japan, here’s the answer from Yoshida:
It’s a legacy, but in Japan circle means “yes”, cross means “no”.

He also promised to inform about launch dated outside Japan “soon” (yeah!):
Sorry to make you wait a bit longer. We will update the launch dates outside Japan soon.

Guess what? In the western world, circle means yes and X means no as well!

What was Sony smoking when they made that controller layout?

/ rant

My PSP is a Japanese one that I bought when I was over there. Nothing too major except the x and circle button switch.

He just wants enough for the Japanese launch.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
