Which handheld do you think will be better?

Vita 190 44.60%

3DS 207 48.59%

Both will be the same 8 1.88%

I don't care 21 4.93%

Total:426

Im enjoying my 3DS now and wont be purchasing a PSPgo V.2 (V standing for Vita).  Until they make the prices of down loads much more affordable.  Its has and and shows potential but when I can purchase, barrow or rent a physical game.  I will ALWAYS be hooked.

Hey, quick question: The PSP got certain types of games because of its optical disc based medium. Games could be bigger on the PSP than the DS, right? Well, with the PSV and the 3DS, aren't both consoles pretty much using cartridges? If that the case, wouldn't it be possible for Konami to make MGS HD Collection for the 3DS? What's stopping them?

3DS is using an older technology and cartridges are quite a lot smaller, they max out at 2GB, but apparently, for MGS3D, Konami managed to get a 4GB card working for the 3DS and that is what they are going to use for MGS3D. They would need 3 cartridges for the MGS HD Collection.

One of the games was also a PSP exclusive, I'm not sure either SONY or Konami would want Peace Walker on the 3DS.

Lastly, the Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP are all very similar in terms of graphical power, porting between the 3 systems would be pretty easy. Having to port the MGS3D to a far more limited system like the 3DS would be a nightmare.

I'm not ruling it out but it is highly unlikely and would take a LOT of work.

both the psv and 3ds cards have the same storage limts, launch 3ds carts were 2 gb with nintendo currently listing 8 GB as max, mgs is simply the first game being known to use the 4gb cart, though cosidering the ds original max was stated at 128mb and eventually  512 mb games were made they can go higher

http://nintendo3dsblog.com/nintendo-3ds-game-cards-can-store-up-to-8gb-worth-of-data

psv will also launch with 2 to 4 gb carts, with 16 gb listed as max

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/03/ngp-games-will-come-on-2gb-and-4gb-cards-with-room-for-save-dat/

do your research, Shutton

Woaah, calm down.

I ignored the 8gb capacity results because they were from unreliable sources from 2010, whereas I found plenty of newer articles discussing the 2gb capacity cap. After Konami requested to use the 4gb capacity cards, I assumed that COULD be the limit that Nintendo has on the 3DS cartridges.

Still, I'm guessing the MGS HD collection will be over 8gb, it would be a tight fit on the 3DS 8gb cartridge but it's possible.

Another con with Vita imho is that so many games are console ports/similiar to the console games.

IE SF x Tekken, where you get the exclusive cole character but in reality It's the same game.
The PSP had the same problem where a lot of the PSP titles were already on the consoles.

It's just that simple.

Yeah, but there's a lot more known now.

Well, you can't really complain about the PSP/Vita about having ports/games similar to consoles without looking at the DS/3DS, too (both have their fair share). Ports/remakes seem to be big now, because they can be relatively easy and don't cost as much money as making a new, original IP. Originality is not something entirely common in today's market, so companies will keep on producing what makes them money.

With both systems being pretty new, most companies are still getting used to the hardware and probably not focused on making new, fresh games (there are some out there being made/already made, I'm sure).

Or how about this: Since Twin Snakes was a joint production between Nintendo and Konami, imagine a Metal Gear collection with Metal Gear 1-3 (even if it cost them Peacewalker). Not going to happen, of course......but still.

People complaining about the Vita (can't get used to that name!) having the exact games as the PS3 need to calm down. Both the Sega Nomad AND the Nec Turbo Express played the same games as their home console counterparts and they.......they.....oh. Nevermind.

I think it's a brilliant idea, since the idea of portability comes to mind. While some games I will get for the PS3 (to experience it on a large HDTV, for example), there are some games that I would love to have a portable version of (like FFX HD). Some people may not have a lot of time to play games at home, so that's another problem solved (yes, I know of the option of playing the PS3 games on your Vita, but there might be issues with that).

Also, it's not like every single Vita game will have two versions of it.

Seems doubtful too. I just don't think Kojima would go that far to support the 3DS, I don't see Metal Gear Solid games being successful on Nintendo systems.

Yeah, and now the Vita and PSP can play together in PSP multiplayer games. It's like Sony doesn't even want it to succeed!
